Actuarial Intern

We are looking for an Actuarial Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in life insurance modelling, valuation, risk management, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic foundation in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field and a keen interest in the life insurance industry.

Requirements:

• Pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance , or a related quantitative discipline.
• Actively pursuing an actuarial qualification and having cleared 1 or more actuarial papers would be preferred.
• Strong interest in Life Insurance products , particularly US Life Insurance and/or Annuity products.
• Basic understanding of actuarial concepts such as pricing, valuation, reserves, risk management, cashflows, and ALM .
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a logical and structured approach.
• Good knowledge of Excel ; exposure to programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or VBA would be an advantage.
• Exposure to AXIS or other actuarial modelling/projection software would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
• Ability to learn new concepts, tools, and processes quickly.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the actuarial team in the conversion, valuation, and analysis of life insurance blocks of business .
• Support model testing and validation activities following model development or conversion.
• Assist in developing and maintaining cashflow models for insurance liabilities, investments, and derivatives.
• Support experience analysis and investigation of movements in insurance portfolios.
• Assist in preparing income statement and balance sheet projections from financial models.
• Support movement analysis to understand and explain changes in financial and capital positions.
• Assist with developing and enhancing actuarial models and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy .
• Support analysis related to new business, acquisitions, reinsurance transactions, and capital requirements .
• Assist with financial projections, capital analysis, and ad hoc actuarial analysis for business initiatives.
• Work closely with experienced actuaries and analysts to develop practical knowledge of US Life Insurance, actuarial modelling, valuation, and ALM .
