Role: QA Engineer – Manual / Network Testing

About the Role

We are looking for a QA Engineer with strong manual testing experience and good networking fundamentals . The ideal candidate should understand the OSI and TCP/IP models and have hands-on experience testing network-based applications, routers, switches, VLANs, and L2/L3 networking features.

You will work closely with Development, Product, and Network Engineering teams to validate features, analyze network behavior, identify defects, and ensure product quality within an Agile environment .

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and create test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for network-based applications and features.
• Perform manual functional, regression, integration, sanity, and system testing .
• Test network functionality involving routers, switches, VLANs, L2 switching, and L3 routing .
• Apply OSI and TCP/IP model knowledge to troubleshoot and isolate issues across network layers.
• Validate VLAN segmentation, L2 switching, L3 routing, and network traffic behavior .
• Test and validate IPv4/IPv6 functionality and network connectivity.
• Analyze network traffic and troubleshoot issues using tools such as Ping, Traceroute, Wireshark/TCPDump , where applicable.
• Log, track, and manage defects using Jira, Zoho, or equivalent defect-tracking tools .
• Provide clear defect details including reproduction steps, severity, impact, and supporting evidence .
• Participate in Agile ceremonies , including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with developers and product owners to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Maintain test documentation, traceability matrices, test execution reports, and defect reports .
• Communicate testing progress, defect status, quality risks, and release readiness to stakeholders.

Required Skills

• 3+ years of experience in QA / Software Testing .
• Strong hands-on experience in Manual Testing .
• Good understanding of Functional, Regression, Integration, Sanity, and System Testing .
• Strong knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP networking models .
• Hands-on knowledge of:
• Routers & Switches
• VLAN / VLAN Segmentation
• L2 Switching
• L3 Routing
• IPv4 & IPv6
• TCP/IP
• Network Traffic Analysis / Behavior Validation
• Experience with Test Cases, Test Plans, Test Scenarios, and Test Execution .
• Experience with Jira, Zoho, or similar defect-tracking tools .
• Good debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment .

Good to Have

• Basic Python scripting for test automation or network validation.
• Exposure to Selenium or other automation frameworks.
• Experience with firewall rule validation and security policy testing .
• Knowledge of NAT, DHCP, DNS, ACLs, VPN, or other networking concepts .
• Exposure to Wireshark, TCPDump, Ping, Traceroute , or similar network troubleshooting tools.
• Willingness to upskill in network automation and Python-based testing .
