Responsibilities:A growing industrial repair and machining operation is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist for its Broadview, Illinois facility. This is a hands-on role supporting the repair, modification, and manufacture of industrial components, with work focused on custom, one-off, and low-volume projects rather than repetitive production machining.
The ideal candidate will be confident working from blueprints, dimensional specifications, worn or damaged components, and field samples. This position is well suited for a machinist who enjoys diagnosing machining challenges, setting up equipment independently, and producing quality replacement or repair parts.Set up and operate manual engine lathes and manual milling machinesMachine industrial components including shafts, bushings, sleeves, spacers, hubs, housings, and related partsPerform turning, facing, boring, drilling, tapping, threading, milling, and similar machining operationsCut keyways and machine other required component featuresRead and interpret blueprints, sketches, dimensions, and existing part samplesComplete repair, restoration, and modification work on used or damaged componentsProduce parts to required tolerances and inspect finished work for dimensional accuracyUse precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and related toolsSupport reverse-engineering efforts when drawings or specifications are unavailableInspect work throughout the machining process to ensure quality and accuracyMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

Schedule/Shift Details: First ShiftOvertime as needed.
Qualifications:Previous experience working as a Manual MachinistStrong hands-on experience operating manual lathesExperience operating manual milling machinesAbility to independently set up machining equipment and determine appropriate machining methodsAbility to read and understand mechanical drawings, blueprints, sketches, and dimensional specificationsComfortable machining both new components and repair/replacement partsSolid understanding of machining tolerances, fits, and precision measurementExperience using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and other inspection toolsAbility to troubleshoot machining, setup, and component-repair issuesExperience in industrial repair, gearbox repair, job-shop machining, or similar custom machining environments is preferred
