Script Assist is looking for a Deputy Head of Finance who combines broad Financial Controller / Head of Finance capability with genuinely deep, hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience.

Business Central experience is essential for this role.

We are particularly interested in candidates currently or previously working as:

• Financial Controller

• Head of Finance

• Senior Finance Manager
• Deputy Head of Finance

You will work alongside our existing finance leadership and CEO, helping us build a highly controlled, scalable and technology-enabled finance function as the business grows.

This is a senior role, but it is also very hands-on .

You need to be comfortable moving from reviewing management accounts or advising the CEO to investigating a balance-sheet reconciliation, understanding a Business Central posting issue or improving an accounting process yourself.

This is one of the most important requirements for the role.

We are not looking merely for someone who worked at a company that happened to use Business Central.

We want someone who has personally used Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (D365 BC / Business Central) deeply within a finance function.

You may have been:

• A senior Business Central finance user
• A finance superuser
• Finance-side owner of a Business Central implementation
• Finance lead during an ERP migration
• Responsible for improving or configuring Business Central finance processes
• Responsible for controls, reporting or workflows within Business Central

Depth matters more than simply counting years.

Someone who spent 12–18 months heavily involved in implementing or transforming Business Central may have stronger experience than somebody who passively used the system for several years.

Experience with Dynamics NAV / Navision is useful additional experience, but candidates must also have genuine Dynamics 365 Business Central experience.

Experience with Dynamics 365 Finance / F&O, SAP, Oracle, Tally or another ERP does not substitute for Business Central experience.

Script Assist is building the operating system for next-generation private healthcare in the UK.

Our software is used by clinics, pharmacies and healthcare operators and supports tens of thousands of medical cannabis prescriptions every month .

We are expanding into additional areas of private healthcare including ADHD, weight management, longevity and specialist medicine.

As the company grows, our finance operation needs to become increasingly:

This role will play an important part in building that finance function.

You will take substantial responsibility across:

• Month-end and year-end close
• Management accounts
• P&L review
• Balance-sheet control and reconciliations
• Revenue accounting
• Accruals and prepayments
• Journals
• Accounts payable
• Accounts receivable
• Billing
• Credit control
• Cash and bank reconciliations
• Payroll oversight
• Bookkeeping quality
• Financial controls
• Management reporting

You should understand the accounting beneath the numbers rather than simply reviewing reports produced by somebody else.

You will help us get significantly more value from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central .

That may include:

• Reviewing how finance processes operate in Business Central
• Strengthening controls
• Improving month-end workflows
• Improving dimensions and reporting
• Reviewing posting logic
• Improving AP and AR processes
• Improving reconciliation processes
• Identifying unnecessary manual work
• Supporting system integrations
• Improving data quality
• Improving finance automation
• Working with external Business Central specialists where required

We want someone who understands both finance and the system running finance .

This role is not simply about keeping the existing process running.

We want someone who can help improve how finance works.

You should be able to look at a process and ask:

• Why are we doing this manually?
• What is the underlying control?
• Can Business Central automate this?
• How do we know the output is complete and accurate?
• What should be reconciled?
• What should be exception-based?
• Where are errors most likely to occur?
• How do we build a process that still works when the company is substantially larger?

We want good financial control without unnecessary bureaucracy .

You will also support and increasingly own:

You do not need to personally be a specialist in every area of tax.

You do need to be capable of owning the overall process and challenging advisers intelligently.

You will work across a small finance team and with external advisers.

You will help:

• Strengthen reconciliations
• Build better controls
• Improve documentation
• Develop team members
• Identify errors early
• Increase accountability and ownership

This is not a role for someone who wants to manage entirely from a distance.

You should still enjoy getting into the detail.

You do not need to have led finance for a huge multinational.

Broad experience in a startup, scale-up, SME or smaller international group may be particularly relevant.

You do need to be interested in using systems and automation to make finance better controlled and more efficient , rather than simply adding people as the company grows.

You will typically have around 8–12 years of relevant finance experience .

You should have:

• A full CA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional accountancy qualification
• Genuine hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience
• Broad Financial Controller / Head of Finance / Finance Manager-level responsibility
• Strong month-end and year-end experience
• Strong balance-sheet control
• AP and AR oversight
• Cash-management experience
• Statutory accounts and audit experience
• Strong financial-control instincts
• Experience reviewing the work of other finance staff
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong spoken and written English
• Confidence working directly with senior management
• A hands-on operating style
  

There is no single required career path.

Strong candidates may have:

• Trained in Big Four and then moved into industry
• Trained with BDO, Grant Thornton, RSM or another strong professional firm
• Developed within a high-quality corporate finance function before moving into broader finance leadership
• Progressed from Finance Manager to Financial Controller
• Run finance for a smaller company
• Worked in both larger structured organisations and smaller hands-on environments
• Built or significantly improved a finance function
• Led a Business Central implementation or migration

Big Four experience is valuable, but it is not required.

What matters is that you have learned strong financial disciplines and subsequently demonstrated broad ownership.
