Carter Morse & Goodrich
About Us:
Carter Morse & Goodrich (CMG) is a boutique, middle-market investment bank specializing in sell-side M&A advisory for family-owned and founder-led businesses pursuing their once-in-a-lifetime transaction. Our passion is delivering life changing outcomes that exceed expectations for owners of middle-market leaders in niche markets.
Since 1987, the combination of our hands-on approach, senior banker attention, strategic guidance, seamless transaction execution and extensive network of domestic and international resources has enabled us to become a trusted advisor to hundreds of business owners.
What We Value:
- Run Through Walls — Whatever. Whenever. Wherever. Always
- Insatiable Curiosity — Dig deeper to make ‘ah-ha’ discoveries
- Humble Confidence — Check your ego at the door but prepare to defend an unpopular stance

- Team Player — Internally & Externally. Create win-wins
CMG currently specializes in the below verticals:
- Manufacturing (especially aerospace & defense, metal processing and niche manufacturing)
- Specialty B2B Services (facility services, landscaping, fire & life safety, and marketing services)
- Consumer Products (hard goods, sports equipment, household products, and CPG)
- Food & Beverage (ingredients, packaged goods, and non-alcoholic beverages)
· HVAC (residential & commercial equipment, distribution, installation and services)
· We specifically do not consider technology, software, healthcare or other technology dependent industries
Why Southport, CT:
Based in the heart of Fairfield County, our Southport office on the Long Island Sound puts you minutes from, a walkable village downtown, and provides a genuine small-firm but big-deal culture. You get hands-on Wall Street-caliber deal experience with a collaborative team without the Wall Street commute, overhead, hierarchy or anonymity.
Who You Are:
The Associate plays a critical role in executing transactions and managing client relationships, combining technical investment banking skills within a high-touch, client-centric approach. We care most about the person: insatiably curious, highly accountable, and someone who runs through walls to get a work done. Direct M&A experience in one of our target verticals is a strong plus, but it is not a absolute requirement. We will train the technical skills for a candidate who brings the grit, drive, and tenacity that this work demands. A truly successful candidate thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced, feedback-rich environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead execution of M&A transactions in partnership with VPs, Managing Directors and Partners
- Manage the development of client-facing marketing materials, including pitch books and confidential information memoranda
- Build and oversee complex financial models and valuation analyses
- Analyze financial statements and perform accounting and operational due diligence
- Conduct industry research and company-specific analysis to support transaction strategy
- Serve as a primary point of contact for client management teams and investor counterparties
- Coordinate diligence processes with third-party advisors, including accountants, attorneys, and consultants
- Drive and support business development initiatives, including sourcing and pitching new opportunities
- Oversee deal timelines, workflows, and deliverables to ensure successful transaction execution
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
- 2-4 years of experience in M&A, private equity, corporate finance, transaction advisory, public accounting, or commercial lending
- A proven record of grit, drive, and results in another demanding, fast-paced field, with a genuine willingness to be trained on deal mechanics
- FINRA SIE, Series 63 and Series 82 or 79 — current licenses are preferred, or ability to obtain within first six months of hire
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Exceptional problem-solving capabilities
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and inspire colleagues
Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation package includes competitive Base & Bonus
- Health, Dental & Vision insurance
- 401k and Profit Sharing retirement plans
- A real feedback culture — Radical Candor means you'll always know where you stand, not just at review time
- Enjoy a better work/life balance – we work hard but family comes first
- Opportunity to get more involved in your local community
