Business Development Manager (North America - New Client Acquisition)
SCIENTE · Bengaluru, India
Job Description
Sciente is a Singapore-headquartered specialist BFSI technology and AI/data consulting firm, with offices across Singapore, Malaysia, India, and the USA. We help banks, insurers, and financial services firms modernize through AI-driven governance, risk and compliance (GRC), data intelligentisation, and business technology consulting, delivered through strategic partnerships with Dataiku, Denodo, and Neo4j, alongside our technology talent management practice.
We are expanding our presence in the North America market and are building a India-based commercial team to drive that growth.
Role Summary
We are hiring a Business Development Manager to own new client acquisition for Sciente's BFSI-focused consulting and technology talent services across North America.
This is a hunter role: you will identify, engage, and close net-new logos among banks, insurers, fintechs, insurtech and other financial services organizations, working substantial overlap into North American business hours. You will be the face of Sciente to prospective NA clients and a critical driver of the company's next stage of growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a pipeline of net-new prospects across North American BFSI (banking, insurance, capital markets, fintech), targeting decision-makers in risk, compliance, data, and technology functions.
- Drive outbound prospecting (email, LinkedIn, calls, events) and convert inbound and partner-sourced leads into qualified opportunities.
- Own the full new-business sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, solution positioning, proposal development, commercial negotiation, and close.
- Represent Sciente's core offerings: AI-driven GRC, data intelligentisation, BFSI technology consulting, and technology talent solutions, tailored to North American regulatory and market context.
- Work closely with Sciente's practice leaders and technology partners (Dataiku, Denodo, Neo4j) to shape client-specific solutions and joint go-to-market motions.
- Maintain accurate pipeline and forecast data in the CRM; report regularly on pipeline health, conversion metrics, and progress against targets.
- Represent Sciente at relevant North American industry events, webinars, and conferences (virtual, and occasional travel as needed).
- Feed market and competitive intelligence back into Sciente's leadership to sharpen positioning and offerings for the NA market.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of relevant experience in B2B new business sales / business development, ideally selling technology, data, AI, or consulting services into North American financial services or enterprise accounts.
- A demonstrated track record of independently sourcing and closing net-new logos (not just managing inbound or existing accounts).
- Comfort selling complex, consultative services (not transactional/product sales) to senior stakeholders (CxO, Head of Risk/Compliance/Data).
- Working knowledge of BFSI themes such as GRC, AML/KYC, risk management, or data/AI platforms is a strong plus; prior exposure to Dataiku, Denodo, Neo4j, or similar platforms is a bonus, not a requirement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with North American clients while working remotely from India.
- Willingness and ability to work hours that substantially overlap with North American business hours (Eastern/Central time zones).
- Self-starter who is comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a lean, founder-led organization.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent is a plus but not mandatory.
Work Arrangement
- Fully remote, based in India.
- Working hours structured to give meaningful daily overlap with North American business hours;
- Occasional travel to North America may be required for key client meetings or industry events (frequency to be defined based on business need).
What Success Looks Like
- A healthy, qualified pipeline of North American BFSI prospects within the first 90 days.
- Consistent progress against new-logo revenue targets (specific quota to be defined with the hiring manager).
- Strong working relationships with Sciente's practice leaders and technology partners that translate into joint pursuits.
