Job Description
The Client Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping, accounting, and financial reporting for a portfolio of Guernsey-based Private Wealth, Trust and Corporate clients. The Client Accountant will prepare accounting records, reconciliations, valuations, and financial statements for a portfolio of clients holding Trusts, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with established procedures, accounting standards, and service delivery expectations.
Your duties will include:
- Maintain accurate accounting records for a portfolio of Private Wealth, Trusts and Corporate client structures, processing financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner
- Perform bank, investment, loan, and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies and outstanding items on behalf of the clients
- Prepare valuations, financial reports and other accounting deliverables for review
- Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and supporting schedules to meet client deadlines
- Prepare working papers and documentation to support all accounting deliverables
- Respond to routine accounting queries and liaise effectively with reviewers to resolve queries and support service delivery
- Ensure all deliverables are completed within agreed deadlines, service standards and accounting practice such as IFRS and UK GAAP
- Escalate issues, risks, or delays to the Assistant Manager or Client Accounting Manager as appropriate to ensure client service level agreements are met
- Ensure all work is accurate, complete, appropriately supported and prepared for review in accordance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements
- Follow established control procedures and maintain appropriate audit trails
- Support internal and external audit requests in a timely and effective manner
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team objectives and service levels, sharing knowledge and supporting less experienced team members where appropriate
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and service delivery
- Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance technical knowledge and skills
About you.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent) or actively studying towards qualification
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and financial reporting for client Trust, Private Wealth and/or Corporate clients
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Experience in preparing reconciliations, working papers and supporting schedules
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
