Position: Veterinary Doctor – OPD, IPD & ABC Spay/Neuter Surgery
Shift: Morning Shift
Location: Dwarka Sec 1, Delhi
Job SummaryWe are looking for a qualified and compassionate Veterinary Doctor for the morning shift to manage routine OPD and IPD cases , perform spay/neuter surgeries , and provide high-quality medical and surgical care to animals at the facility.
Key ResponsibilitiesOPD Duties
- Conduct thorough clinical examinations and consultations.
- Diagnose and treat routine medical and surgical cases.
- Handle wound management, vaccinations, deworming, skin conditions, infections and other common conditions.
- Prescribe appropriate medications and follow-up treatment.
- Maintain accurate medical records and treatment sheets.
- Advise caretakers/adopters regarding medication, nutrition, recovery and post-treatment care.
ABC / Spay-Neuter Surgery
- Perform ABC sterilisation surgeries (OVH/ovariohysterectomy and castration) in accordance with accepted veterinary protocols.
- Conduct pre-operative examination and assess animals for surgical fitness.
- Administer/monitor anaesthesia and ensure proper surgical and aseptic protocols.
- Perform post-operative monitoring and pain management.
- Identify and manage routine surgical complications and escalate critical cases when required.
- Ensure proper surgical documentation and maintain sterilisation records.
IPD Duties
- Examine and monitor admitted animals on a daily basis.
- Prepare and implement treatment plans for IPD patients.
- Monitor vital signs, appetite, hydration, wound healing and recovery.
- Supervise medication, IV fluids, dressings and other prescribed treatments.
- Coordinate with veterinary assistants/animal handlers regarding nursing and patient care.
- Take timely action in case of deterioration or emergencies.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of animal welfare, hygiene, biosecurity and infection control.
- Work closely with veterinary assistants, animal handlers and management.
- Ensure proper use, cleaning and maintenance of surgical and medical equipment.
- Maintain proper stock and usage records for medicines, consumables and surgical supplies.
- Handle emergency cases during the assigned shift and coordinate referrals where necessary.
- Follow applicable veterinary, animal-welfare and ABC programme guidelines.
- BVSc & AH from a recognised veterinary institution.
- Valid registration with the appropriate State Veterinary Council.
- Practical experience in spay/neuter surgery , preferably in an ABC programme or high-volume sterilisation setting.
- Good clinical examination, diagnostic and surgical skills.
- Ability to independently manage routine OPD and IPD cases.
- Knowledge of anaesthesia, analgesia, aseptic surgery and post-operative care.
- Compassionate approach towards community and shelter animals.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team and manage a busy caseload.
- 1–3+ years of clinical/surgical experience preferred.
- Prior experience with ABC/Animal Birth Control programmes will be strongly preferred.
- Experience handling stray/community dogs and cats is an advantage.
- Safe and efficient completion of assigned ABC surgeries.
- Appropriate diagnosis and treatment of OPD/IPD cases.
- Proper pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
- Accurate maintenance of medical and surgical records.
- Strict adherence to animal welfare, hygiene and surgical protocols.
- Professional, compassionate and responsible handling of all animals.
Salary: depending on experience and surgical skills.
