Are you a hands-on Java engineer who thrives on building high-performance, low-latency trading systems?We have partnered with a well-established, globally recognised banking - financial services innovative FinTech company scaling up seeking an experienced Lead/Senior Java Engineer to help develop and optimise its front-office electronic trading platform across Rates and Credit.This is an exciting opportunity to work on business-critical trading technology where performance, scalability and engineering quality make a tangible difference. You'll be involved in designing, coding and testing enhancements across market connectivity, pricing, RFQ workflows and straight-through processing (STP).Why consider this opportunity?High-impact engineering: Optimise latency, throughput, concurrency and system performance across a front-office trading platform.Complex technical challenges: Work on messaging infrastructure, caching strategies, data structures and performance-sensitive applications.Front-office exposure: Contribute directly to electronic trading workflows across Rates and Credit.Long-term engagement: An opportunity to make a sustained contribution to a strategic banking technology platform.Competitive contract rate with flexibility depending on relevant experience.New York location: Hybrid working, with 3–4 days per week on-site in the New York metropolitan area.The roleYou'll take a hands-on role in the design, development, testing and optimisation of the electronic trading platform, including:Developing server-side Java applications for Rates and Credit electronic trading.Implementing and enhancing electronic communication network (ECN) connectivity.Supporting pricing engines, request-for-quote (RFQ) processing and STP workflows.Improving application latency, throughput, scalability and capacity.Optimising messaging layers, caching, data structures, multithreading and concurrency.Contributing to robust, maintainable production-quality code and automated delivery pipelines.Collaborating with technology and front-office stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions.What we're looking forEssential experienceStrong hands-on experience developing server-side applications in Core Java.A solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, garbage collection, memory management and performance tuning.Experience with messaging technologies such as Solace, Kafka, Aeron or MQ.Strong SQL and relational database experience, ideally MS SQL Server or Oracle.Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tooling such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions or UrbanCode.Direct experience developing or supporting front-office electronic trading platforms in Fixed Income, Rates, Credit, Equities or FX.Practical understanding of market connectivity, ECNs, RFQ workflows, pricing and/or STP.Ability to work in the New York metropolitan area and attend the office 3–4 days per week.Desirable experienceAWS services, including S3, SQS, SSM and KMS.Proven experience optimising high-throughput, low-latency trading applications. xzbcwsv Two or more years of application development experience within a front-office Fixed Income, Equities or FX environment.Please apply asap with your CV showing all your relevant experience and skills and email your CV, daily rate/annualised gross salary expectations and availability to interview and start to Marina Economidou, Executive Solutions Consultant
