Pay Range: $80 - $90/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze existing ontology structures, concepts, relationships, properties, and identifiers.Define and document source-to-target semantic mappings.Develop Python-based parsing and transformation logic for JSON/YAML and semantic model conversion.Map ontology definitions into LinkML and support transformation into OWL/RDF-based representations.Develop mappings between ontology concepts and data catalog/business glossary structures.Identify and document ambiguous, lossy, unsupported, or non-one-to-one mappings.Validate transformed models to ensure semantic meaning is preserved.Develop reusable, maintainable transformation code with appropriate testing, validation, logging, and exception handling.Package source code and supporting documentation for deployment and ongoing maintenance.Work directly with client data-governance and technical stakeholders to resolve semantic and mapping decisions.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
Development of ontology or metadata conversion/transformation utilities.Experience integrating ontologies with enterprise data catalogs or business glossaries.Knowledge of semantic interoperability standards and metadata exchange formats.Experience working in large, complex enterprise data environments.Experience with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.Hands-on experience with ontologies, semantic models, knowledge graphs, or semantic data engineering.Strong understanding of OWL and RDF concepts, including classes, properties, relationships, namespaces, hierarchies, cardinality, and identifiers.Experience with LinkML or comparable semantic/schema modeling frameworks.Strong Python development skills, particularly in JSON/YAML parsing, schema/model transformations, validation, exception handling, and logging.Experience creating and documenting source-to-target semantic mappings.Ability to evaluate semantic equivalence and identify where mappings cannot be performed reliably.Familiarity with metadata management, data catalogs, business glossaries, and data-governance concepts.Familiarity with Git/GitHub, testing, CI/CD, source-code packaging, and technical documentation.Strong communication skills and ability to explain semantic-modeling decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
