Overview The Director or VP of Design-Build will oversee all aspects of commercial construction operations for a well-established commercial property developer operating in Arizona and Texas, and for any new markets the company enters. This leader will drive design collaboration from conception through completion, improve field processes and quality, and expand our network of external general and specialty contractors.Key ResponsibilitiesLead design-build efforts and collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders from schematic design through project closeout.Develop and maintain initial budgets, staffing plans, schedules, and resource allocation for multiple concurrent projects.Oversee project execution: quality assurance, safety compliance, code adherence, and construction best practices on job sites.Supervise and mentor a small team of field managers; establish priorities and standardize processes to improve productivity and quality.Source, vet, and grow relationships with general contractors and specialty subcontractors for bidding and project delivery.Participate in preconstruction and architectural design phases to advise on constructability and cost-effective solutions.Coordinate and attend construction meetings, site visits, and stakeholder reviews.Prepare and deliver a concise monthly executive summary for senior leadership.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field strongly preferred.Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience in commercial construction, design-build, or preconstruction roles.Background may include owner/developer, design-build firm, or general contractor with demonstrated preconstruction/design team experience.Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, codes, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively with executive leadership and project teams.Experience in retail, multifamily, or commercial construction is a plus. xzbcwsv Locations Primary markets: Phoenix (Arizona) and Texas; willingness to support new markets as company expands.Keywords Construction, Design-Build, Real Estate Developer, General Contractor, Quality Control, Preconstruction, Supervision, Commercial Construction, Retail Construction, Multifamily Construction, Phoenix
