Role Summary
The Business Development & New Initiatives professional will be responsible for developing and growing business opportunities across strategic growth areas identified under the Lakshya-31 roadmap. The role requires proactive business development, customer relationship management, strategic partnership development, market assessment, commercialization of new products and solutions, and coordination with cross-functional teams to achieve order booking and revenue targets.
The individual will serve as the primary customer and partner interface for new business initiatives, managing the complete business cycle from opportunity identification through commercialization and post-deployment support while ensuring successful execution of strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new business enquiries for strategic initiatives and emerging business opportunities.
- Identify, approach, and develop new customer accounts within target industries and market segments.
- Actively identify opportunities in automation, AI-enabled systems, sustainability solutions, recycling technologies, service businesses, and adjacent machinery segments.
- Develop and execute market-specific business development strategies to achieve business growth.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned strategic initiatives.
- Conduct regular customer meetings to understand business needs and identify opportunities.
- Lead discussions with customers on technical and commercial aspects of new products, solutions, and services.
- Develop and grow opportunities in international markets through direct customer engagement and in coordination with the respective International Business Development Managers based on market requirements and opportunity landscape.
- Work collaboratively with regional International Business Development Managers, channel partners, and local representatives to identify, pursue, and convert business opportunities.
- Engage directly with international customers, technology partners, and strategic stakeholders wherever required.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Application Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and Operations.
- Develop technically and commercially competitive proposals.
- Prepare quotations, business cases, feasibility studies, and commercialization plans.
- Negotiate commercial terms while maintaining targeted margins and business objectives.
- Own customer opportunities from enquiry through successful commercialization and project completion.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, customer requirements, emerging technologies, and growth opportunities.
- Identify new market segments and application opportunities aligned with strategic growth plans.
- Evaluate adjacent business opportunities and potential new product segments.
- Assess opportunities for technology partnerships, co-development, licensing and strategic alliances.
- Provide regular market feedback to management for product and business strategy development.
Base Location & Travel
- Chennai / Kanchipuram
- Approximately 40–50% domestic and international travel.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Automation, Mechatronics, or related discipline) preferred.
- Experience: 5–10 years of experience in Business Development, Strategic Marketing, Product Commercialization, or customer-facing technical sales.
