About the role

Xymbia Inc. is hiring a Principal Engineer to lead a small engineering team supporting our client, Zones, on the Zones Digital Platform.

You will combine technical leadership, hands‑on engineering, and people management. You’ll shape the platform’s architecture, guide delivery, and manage a team of lead engineers and software engineers while staying close to the code.

What you’ll do

• Manage, mentor, and develop a small team of lead engineers and software engineers.
• Own technical direction and architectural decisions across backend services, frontend applications, and data systems.
• Contribute to critical implementations, design reviews, code reviews, and complex troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Zones stakeholders to translate business priorities into technical plans and delivery milestones.
• Build and improve services using Go, interfaces using React, and data capabilities using PostgreSQL, StarRocks, and Kafka.
• Establish engineering practices for testing, security, observability, performance, and reliability.
• Balance feature delivery with technical debt reduction and long-term platform health.
• Support hiring and build a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring

• Experience leading the architecture and delivery of complex production software.
• Strong hands‑on backend engineering skills, ideally in Go, with the ability to guide full‑stack development.
• Experience managing and mentoring engineers, including senior or lead engineers.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, API design, relational databases, and event‑driven architecture.
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL and Kafka, or comparable technologies.
• Familiarity with React and modern frontend development.
• Sound judgment in balancing technical tradeoffs, business priorities, and delivery risks.
• Clear communication skills and experience collaborating directly with client stakeholders.
