About NMK

NMK Textile Mills India Pvt. Ltd. is an established manufacturer and exporter of bed linen, with a strong and long-standing presence in the North American market, particularly the USA and Canada.

As part of our next phase of growth, NMK has commenced operations at a state-of-the-art new manufacturing facility at Bhiwandi, Thane ( Maharashtra) . The unit is currently undergoing phased commissioning and scale-up, with an operating production base and additional machinery, functions and teams being added progressively.

This 2nd facility represents the expansion of NMK’s proven export operations, experienced manufacturing organisation and established international customer relationships.


About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Head – Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Administration & Governance to lead NMK’s people, industrial-relations, worker-welfare, administration and governance functions across both manufacturing facilities.

The role will be particularly important as NMK expands its organisation and workforce. It will report directly to the CEO & Managing Director and work closely with the COO, Plant Heads and functional leaders.


Key Responsibilities

• Develop organisation structures, manpower budgets and phased recruitment plans aligned with NMK’s growth

• Lead recruitment across management, staff, supervisors and factory-workforce categories

• Build and manage a capable HR, IR, Welfare and Administration team across both facilities

• Maintain stable industrial relations through effective worker communication, grievance resolution, dispute prevention and fair disciplinary processes

• Manage domestic enquiries, employee disputes, labour inspections and proceedings before statutory authorities, with professional advisers where required

• Ensure compliance with applicable Labour Codes, Maharashtra rules, employment requirements, contractor regulations and factory-related workforce provisions

• Maintain statutory records, returns, committees, appointments and compliance calendars across both locations

• Oversee worker welfare and factory services, including employee buses, canteen and kitchen operations, food hygiene, drinking water, sanitation, washrooms, lockers, rest areas, first-aid, medical support and applicable childcare facilities

• Partner with Plant Heads and qualified EHS professionals on safety induction, occupational health, emergency preparedness and employee welfare

• Own the HR, labour and worker-welfare portions of customer, social, ethical and third-party audits, including preparation, employee interviews and closure of corrective actions

• Establish controls over contractors and manpower agencies, including worker records, wages, attendance and statutory compliance

• Lead performance management, succession planning, training, skill development, compensation, benefits, promotions and employee engagement

• Oversee payroll inputs, attendance, leave, HRMS, employee data, workforce analytics and management reporting

• Oversee security coordination, housekeeping, transport, canteen, access control, visitor management and administrative vendors

• Implement policies covering workplace conduct, POSH, whistleblower/vigil mechanism, conflicts of interest, confidentiality and ethical behaviour

• Provide regular HR, IR, compliance, workforce-risk and governance reporting to the CEO & Managing Director


Candidate Profile

• Approximately 20 – 25 years of progressive HR and Industrial Relations experience

• At least eight years in senior HR/IR leadership with direct responsibility for a large manufacturing workforce

• Recent experience as HR/IR Head of a sizeable manufacturing unit or multi-location manufacturing organisation

• Experience in home textiles, bed linen, garments, made-ups or another labour-intensive export-manufacturing business strongly preferred

• Proven experience in workforce ramp-up, industrial relations, dispute resolution and worker-welfare management

• Hands-on experience managing employee transport, canteen, factory administration and large-scale employee services

• Strong knowledge of labour compliance, contractor governance, payroll, HRMS and customer social-compliance audits

• High integrity, maturity, confidentiality and a practical, hands-on leadership style


Qualifications

Postgraduate degree or MBA in Human Resources, Personnel Management or Industrial Relations. An additional qualification in labour law will be strongly preferred.

This is a full-time, on-site role requiring regular presence across NMK’s facilities in Bhiwandi, Thane - Maharashtra.
