Job Description

Assistant Manager - Odoo Development & Support

This role owns day-to-day support and ongoing development of the organization's Odoo platform associated with relevant E-Commerce platforms acting as first and second line of support for relevant users, and as the in-house developer for configuration, customization, and integration work.

Key Responsibilities — Support

  • Act as first point of contact for Odoo issues raised by business users; log, triage, and resolve tickets within agreed SLAs.
  • Monitor daily system health, scheduled jobs, backups, server/database performance, module errors and escalate infrastructure issues to hosting support as needed.
  • Investigate and fix functional issues across the modules in use (Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Accounting, Manufacturing).
  • Maintain and correct master data (products, partners, pricelists, chart of accounts) in line with data governance standards.
  • Train new and existing users on standard processes, and resolve user errors before escalating as bugs.
  • Maintain support documentation — known issues, standard operating procedures, and a running log of configuration decisions.

Key Responsibilities — Development & Customization

  • Gather requirements from business users and translate them into Odoo configuration, custom modules, or workflow automation.
  • Develop and maintain custom Odoo modules in Python, including custom models, views (XML/QWeb), and business logic.
  • Build and maintain integrations between Odoo and other systems (SAP, e-commerce, banking, courier/logistics, payment gateways) via APIs (XML-RPC/JSON-RPC/REST).
  • Design and maintain custom reports, dashboards, and QWeb print templates.
  • Plan and execute Odoo version upgrades and module migrations, including regression testing before go-live.
  • Follow a defined change control process — develop on a test/staging instance, obtain business sign-off, then deploy to production with a rollback plan.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting and developing on Odoo (or a comparable open-source ERP), including at least one full implementation or major customization project.
  • Experience in textile, manufacturing or trading environment is an advantage.
  • Prior experience integrating Odoo with a second ERP or external system is a strong plus.

Technical Skills

  • Strong command of the Odoo framework: ORM, module structure, XML views, QWeb reporting, Odoo Studio.
  • Proficient in Python and object-oriented programming.
  • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL — writing and optimizing queries, understanding Odoo's database structure.
  • Experience with Odoo's web services (XML-RPC, JSON-RPC, REST APIs) for third-party integrations.
  • Comfortable with Git-based version control and a structured dev staging production deployment process.
  • Exposure to Linux server administration and Odoo.sh or on-premise deployment is a plus.
  • Clear communicator who can translate business requirements into technical terms and back again.
  • Methodical and detail-oriented, particularly around data integrity and change control.
  • Able to manage multiple support tickets and development tasks against competing deadlines.
  • Comfortable working directly with end users across departments, including non-technical staff.
  • Collaborative — this role coordinates regularly with the SAP/ERP team on cross-system processes.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Ticket resolution time against SLA (first response and resolution).
  • Uptime/availability of the Odoo platform during business hours.
  • On-time delivery of agreed development/customization requests.
  • Share of recurring issues resolved at root cause rather than worked around.
  • User satisfaction feedback on support and training.
