About the Role
We are looking for a proactive, analytical, and result-driven to join our finance team as Consultant/Senior Consultant – Accounts Receivable / Order to Cash (O2C).
The role will be responsible for managing and overseeing the complete Accounts Receivable and Order to Cash cycle for an Australia-based client operating in the automotive service industry, including smash repair and vehicle service centre operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in accounts receivable, customer accounting, collections, cash application, reconciliations, credit control, revenue accounting, month-end close, and O2C process governance.
This position offers excellent exposure to Australian accounting practices, international clients, O2C operations, financial reporting, customer finance processes, and global finance operations .
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounts Receivable & O2C Management
- Manage the complete Accounts Receivable and Order to Cash cycle.
- Oversee customer invoicing, billing, credit notes, adjustments, receipts, and collections.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of customer transactions.
- Monitor customer accounts and ensure accurate recording of receivables.
- Review customer balances, ageing, outstanding invoices, and payment status.
- Ensure timely resolution of billing and customer account discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate customer master data and account records.
2. Customer Billing & Revenue Accounting
- Review and validate customer invoices for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate supporting documentation.
- Ensure invoices are raised accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Review billing exceptions, credit notes, debit notes, and customer adjustments.
- Coordinate with operations and other stakeholders to resolve billing-related issues.
- Ensure appropriate revenue recognition and accounting treatment in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Investigate billing variances and unusual revenue movements.
- Support month-end revenue and receivables closing activities.
- Ensure cut-off procedures are followed accurately at month-end and year-end.
3. Collections & Credit Control
- Monitor accounts receivable ageing and overdue customer balances.
- Support and coordinate collection activities with relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and review ageing reports and collection dashboards.
- Identify high-risk and long-outstanding customer accounts.
- Follow up on overdue invoices and support resolution of payment disputes.
- Analyse customer payment trends and credit exposure.
- Escalate collection issues and potential bad debts to management.
- Support credit control procedures and customer account reviews.
- Assist in developing strategies to improve collection efficiency and reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
4. Cash Application & Bank Reconciliation
- Ensure timely and accurate application of customer receipts against outstanding invoices.
- Review unidentified and unapplied cash and ensure timely resolution.
- Perform customer account reconciliations.
- Reconcile bank receipts with Accounts Receivable records.
- Investigate and resolve differences between customer statements, sub-ledgers, and the General Ledger.
- Ensure accurate recording of customer payments, refunds, and adjustments.
- Coordinate with banking and finance teams for resolution of payment-related issues.
5. Accounts Receivable Reconciliation & Governance
- Prepare and review Accounts Receivable sub-ledger reconciliations.
- Ensure reconciliation between Accounts Receivable sub-ledger and General Ledger.
- Investigate aged, disputed, or unreconciled balances.
- Ensure timely substantiation of receivable balances.
- Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, and operational risks.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails for AR transactions.
- Support continuous improvement in reconciliation and O2C processes.
6. Month-End & Year-End Closing
- Manage Accounts Receivable activities during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing.
- Prepare and review AR-related journal entries and adjustments.
- Ensure accurate accounting for revenue, receivables, provisions, write-offs, and bad debts.
- Perform AR ageing analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support preparation of P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reporting.
- Ensure proper revenue and receivable cut-off.
- Provide accurate O2C data and commentary for management reporting.
- Ensure all closing activities are completed within defined timelines.
7. Financial Analysis & MIS
- Prepare Accounts Receivable and O2C management reports.
- Prepare customer ageing and collection reports.
- Analyse DSO, collection efficiency, overdue balances, and working capital trends.
- Perform variance analysis related to revenue and receivables.
- Prepare dashboards and financial MIS for management review.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improving working capital.
- Provide meaningful commentary on AR performance and collection movements.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow forecasting activities.
8. Team Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with junior finance team members and review their work.
- Guide team members on AR, billing, reconciliation, and O2C processes.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve customer billing and collection issues.
- Liaise with client stakeholders regarding receivables and O2C matters.
- Coordinate with auditors and other external stakeholders as required.
- Ensure timely escalation and resolution of critical issues.
- Maintain professional communication with international clients and stakeholders.
9. Compliance, Controls & Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and financial regulations.
- Maintain strong internal controls across the O2C process.
- Identify control gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit readiness.
- Drive standardisation and process improvements across Accounts Receivable operations.
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvement.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within finance operations.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Qualification- BBA/B.Com/M.com/ MBA-Finance domain, CA drop out/ CA Inter.
- 2–6 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong experience in Accounts Receivable and O2C operations.
- Preference for candidates with experience in International Accounting.
- Strong exposure to IFRS and international financial reporting practices.
- Experience in Australian Accounting and knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards will be highly preferred.
- Experience handling international clients, particularly Australia-based clients.
- Experience managing customer accounting and receivables for international clients.
- Exposure to Middle East / GCC accounting practices will be an advantage.
- Candidates with exposure to US, UK, or European Accounting will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of international accounting and reporting practices.
- Experience working with multinational or international clients is preferred.
- Exposure to automotive service, repair, or service centre industries will be an advantage.
- Experience in working with ERP/accounting platforms such as Xero, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar systems will be preferred.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong ownership, attention to detail, and commitment to deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with international clients and stakeholders.
