We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Designer to join a well-established, growing engineering design consulting firm in the Indianapolis area. Known for its collaborative approach, technical expertise, and commitment to quality design, the firm works on a variety of new construction, renovation, and building improvement projects.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical and collaborative aspects of building technology design, values strong client relationships, and wants to play an important role in developing integrated technology systems for the built environment.
What You'll DoDesign low-voltage building technology systems, including structured network cabling, security systems, and audiovisual (AV) systems.Develop construction drawings, technical specifications, and design documentation using AutoCAD and Revit.Coordinate technology systems with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines throughout the design process.Review designs for compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, and established engineering practices.Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and internal project teams to develop practical, well-coordinated solutions.Conduct field surveys and occasional construction site visits to evaluate existing conditions and verify installations.Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to contractor RFIs, and provide construction administration support.Maintain strong client relationships while managing project deadlines and delivering quality design work.
What We're Looking For7+ years of experience in the building design industry, with a background in low-voltage technology systems.Experience designing structured cabling, security, and audiovisual systems for commercial or institutional buildings.RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) credential.High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's or bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.Experience developing construction documents, technical specifications, and coordinated building systems designs.Proficiency with Revit MEP and AutoCAD preferred.CTS or CTS-D certification is a plus.Strong communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.Valid driver's license and ability to participate in occasional local site visits.
