About the Role


Young Edsplorer is looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Domestic Travel Operations Manager to lead the planning and execution of educational tours across India for school groups.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in domestic travel operations, itinerary planning, hotel contracting, activity bookings, vendor management, transport coordination, and group tour execution . This role requires someone who can curate educational travel experiences while ensuring seamless operational delivery, cost optimisation, and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities


Educational Tour Planning & Itinerary Development
  • Curate engaging and educational travel programs for school groups across India.
  • Design detailed day-wise itineraries based on age groups, educational objectives, destination suitability, and client budgets.
  • Research and recommend destinations, educational institutions, museums, heritage sites, adventure activities, industrial visits, wildlife experiences, and cultural programs.
  • Ensure itineraries maintain the right balance between learning, recreation, safety, and logistics.


End-to-End Travel Operations
  • Manage complete operational planning and execution of domestic educational tours.
  • Coordinate all travel arrangements from booking confirmation until successful tour completion.
  • Prepare tour documents including operational schedules, travel vouchers, rooming lists, emergency contact sheets, manifests, and departure kits.
  • Ensure smooth coordination among internal teams, vendors, schools, and tour coordinators.


Hotel & Accommodation Management
  • Source, negotiate, and confirm hotel bookings across domestic destinations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with hotels, resorts, hostels, and educational campuses.
  • Ensure accommodation meets quality, safety, hygiene, and budget requirements.
  • Handle room allocations, meal plans, special requests, and last-minute operational changes.


Activity & Attraction Bookings
  • Coordinate bookings for educational attractions, museums, monuments, workshops, industrial visits, adventure activities, theme parks, wildlife sanctuaries, and cultural experiences.
  • Liaise with local vendors to secure confirmations, competitive pricing, and smooth execution.
  • Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and school requirements.


Vendor & Supplier Management
  • Build strong relationships with transport providers, hotels, activity operators, local guides, and destination partners.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Monitor vendor performance and service quality.
  • Maintain an updated vendor database across key domestic destinations.


Transport Coordination
  • Coordinate buses, tempo travellers, trains, domestic flights (where applicable), and local transportation.
  • Ensure timely vehicle allocation, route planning, permits, and driver coordination.
  • Manage airport, railway station, and hotel transfers efficiently.


Budget & Cost Management
  • Prepare operational cost sheets for each departure.
  • Monitor operational expenses and vendor payments.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation without compromising service quality.
  • Ensure all bookings remain within approved budgets.


School & Client Coordination
  • Act as the primary operations contact for schools during pre-departure planning.
  • Coordinate student data, rooming preferences, dietary requirements, medical information, and special requests.
  • Ensure timely sharing of operational updates and travel documents.


Tour Execution & Operational Support
  • Monitor tours before and during departures.
  • Resolve operational issues promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate with tour leaders, vendors, and internal teams for real-time problem resolution.
  • Ensure every tour is executed according to the planned itinerary.


Process Improvement & Compliance
  • Develop and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for travel operations.
  • Maintain operational documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, child safety protocols, and operational standards.
  • Conduct post-tour reviews to identify improvement opportunities.

Preferred Candidate Profile


  • 2–5 years of experience in Domestic Travel Operations , Educational Travel , Group Tours , or Itinerary Planning .
  • Experience handling school groups , student travel, educational tours, or domestic group departures.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian travel destinations, educational attractions, and domestic tourism circuits.
  • Proven experience in hotel sourcing, activity bookings, transport coordination, and vendor negotiations.
  • Ability to manage multiple departures simultaneously while maintaining operational accuracy.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.


Educational Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in Travel & Tourism, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or any related discipline.
  • Certification in Travel & Tourism will be an added advantage.
