Smart Guy Solutions is seeking a sharp, results-driven Design & Engineering Manager to spearhead technical design for our commercial security integration projects across Phoenix and Mesa. If you are a systems-minded leader who takes pride in turning complex customer requirements into field-ready engineering packages while setting company-wide standards, this is your next career move.
What You'll DoTechnical System Design: Engineer comprehensive commercial security solutions, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, intercom, audio-visual, fiber optics, and structured cabling.Site Discovery & Surveys: Lead on-site technical walk-throughs, evaluate physical site conditions, and translate customer security needs into precise engineering requirements.Estimating & Scoping: Develop accurate bills of materials (BOM), labor projections, statements of work, and project proposals that safeguard gross margins and schedule feasibility.Documentation & Drawing Standards: Produce and oversee deployment documentation, CAD/schematic drawings, and clear handoff packages for field installation teams.Technical Alignment & Collaboration: Coordinate directly with customer IT and facility teams regarding IP networking, bandwidth, power, and architectural integration.Build the Engineering Function: Establish standardized design templates, workflows, and best practices as the company scales into new regional markets.
Who You ArePhysical Security Veteran: 5+ years of dedicated commercial physical security design and engineering experience, with deep technical mastery of CCTV and access control systems (REQUIRED).Systems Thinker: You build repeatable standards and templates rather than reinventing the wheel to solve the same problem twice.IT & Networking Proficient: Strong grasp of IP networking fundamentals, subnets, PoE budgets, intrusion, and intercom infrastructure.Margin & Business Minded: You possess sharp estimating judgment and understand exactly how technical design decisions impact labor hours, margins, and job delivery.Decisive & Accountable: You communicate with executive poise, trust your technical judgment on routine calls, and own the final outcome from proposal to implementation.
