Job Description
- BDS Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent dental qualification from an institution/university recognized by PM&DC.
- Postgraduate Qualification Level III: FCPS Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery / MDS Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery / MS / FRCS / Diplomat of American Board Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or any other equivalent postgraduate dental qualification in the respective specialty, recognized by PM&DC.
- Valid PM&DC Registration Certificate Full/Permanent, showing the postgraduate qualification.
Experience
- Three 3 years of post-graduation practical experience in the respective specialty Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in a recognized institution, if the postgraduate qualification is general .
- No experience required if the candidate holds a sub-specialty qualification in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
- Note per PM&DC Faculty/Teaching Regulations: the post of Senior Registrar is not a teaching cadre post ; it is a clinical training/service position and is not counted as faculty.
Job Description
- Provide direct patient care in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, including clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning, under the supervision of the Consultant/Head of Department.
- Perform and assist in oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures — extractions, impactions, cyst/tumor excisions, trauma management, and minor/major maxillofacial surgeries — as per assigned privileges and competence level.
- Manage dental/maxillofacial emergencies and provide on-call cover for the department as per duty roster.
- Supervise and guide junior staff, including Medical/Dental Officers, House Officers, and Postgraduate Trainees, in daily clinical duties.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, operative notes, discharge summaries, and clinical documentation.
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical case discussions, mortality/morbidity meetings, and departmental academic activities.
- Ensure compliance with hospital/college protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety standards in the surgical unit.
- Coordinate with anesthesia, radiology, pathology, and other allied departments for patient management.
- Assist in the clinical training and supervision of BDS students and postgraduate trainees FCPS/MDS residents as required by the department.
- Ensure proper informed consent, patient counseling, and communication with patients/attendants regarding surgical procedures and outcomes.
- Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing dental education CDE activities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department/College Administration within the scope of a Senior Registrar.
