Property & Casualty (P&C) Actuary – IFRS 17, Reserving, Pricing & Capital Modelling
Location: Flexible / Hybrid

About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading global consulting and professional services organisation, is seeking experienced P&C Actuaries to join its growing actuarial practice. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex actuarial engagements across the insurance sector, supporting leading insurers on regulatory transformation, financial reporting, pricing, reserving, and capital modelling initiatives.
The role offers exposure to large-scale transformation programmes, cross-functional collaboration, and the latest actuarial modelling technologies.
Key Responsibilities
IFRS 17
- Support the implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of IFRS 17 reporting frameworks.
- Perform actuarial calculations including fulfilment cash flows, risk adjustment, and Contractual Service Margin (CSM).
- Assist with quarterly and annual IFRS 17 reporting and disclosures.
- Collaborate with finance, accounting, and technology teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Contribute to the automation and optimisation of IFRS 17 processes and actuarial models.
Reserving
- Perform reserve analyses across multiple Property & Casualty insurance portfolios.
- Apply recognised actuarial reserving techniques, including Chain Ladder, Bornhuetter-Ferguson, Expected Loss Ratio, and stochastic methods.
- Analyse reserve adequacy, trends, and uncertainty.
- Prepare actuarial reports supporting management and regulatory requirements.
Pricing
- Develop, review, and enhance pricing models for commercial and personal lines of business.
- Analyse claims experience, exposure, frequency, and severity trends.
- Support portfolio profitability analysis and pricing strategy.
- Provide actuarial insights to underwriting and product teams.
Capital Modelling & Risk
- Develop and maintain economic and regulatory capital models.
- Support Solvency II and other capital adequacy frameworks where applicable.
- Perform stress testing, scenario analysis, and risk quantification.
- Support ORSA and enterprise risk management initiatives.
- Assist with reinsurance analysis and capital optimisation projects.
Data & Analytics
- Analyse large insurance datasets to generate actuarial insights.
- Build, validate, and maintain actuarial models using modern analytical tools.
- Automate actuarial processes and reporting.
- Support data quality and governance initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Progress towards or completion of a recognised actuarial qualification (IFoA, CAS, SOA, Institute of Actuaries, or equivalent).
- 3–10+ years of experience in Property & Casualty actuarial roles.
- Strong understanding of general insurance principles and actuarial methodologies.
Technical Skills
Experience in one or more of the following:
- IFRS 17
- Reserving
- Pricing
- Capital Modelling
- Solvency II
- ORSA
- GLMs
- Stochastic Modelling
Preferred technical tools include:
- Python
- R
- SQL
- SAS (preferred)
- VBA
- Power BI or Tableau
- Radar, ResQ, Emblem, Prophet, Tyche, or similar actuarial software
Preferred Experience
- IFRS 17 implementation or reporting projects.
- General insurance consulting or insurer experience.
- Capital modelling and regulatory reporting.
- Model validation and governance.
- Reinsurance pricing and reserving.
- Actuarial transformation programmes.
- Process automation and analytics.
