Salary: $90,000 - 120,000 per year Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining production network and security solutions.
• Strong routing, switching, LAN/WAN, wireless, and subnetting fundamentals at CCNP-level depth.
• Advanced understanding of network security architecture and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with firewalls, URL filtering, endpoint protection, web security gateways, and network access controls.
• Experience investigating security alerts, vulnerabilities, and potential breaches.
• Experience providing technical direction, mentoring, or leadership to engineers.
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel to client sites when needed.
• Preferred: CCNP or CCIE certification.
• Preferred: Expert-level experience with one or more of Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, UniFi, Meraki, MikroTik, or Ruckus.
• Preferred: Experience with cloud networking, automation, APIs, and scripting.
• Ability to work independently, own technical direction, and be accountable for outcomes.

• Design, implement, and support LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN, firewall, and cloud network architectures across client environments.
• Lead network segmentation, perimeter security, access control, and secure cloud connectivity initiatives.
• Configure and optimize routing and switching, including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, STP, VLANs, trunking, EtherChannel, subnetting, and route and policy design.
• Build and maintain firewall rules, authentication and NAC controls, and segmentation strategies to reduce risk and improve resilience.
• Investigate security alerts, vulnerabilities, and potential breaches, then recommend and implement remediation.
• Monitor and support firewalls, endpoint protection, web and URL filtering, and related defense platforms.
• Troubleshoot network and security issues involving hardware, configuration, and connectivity.
• Provide technical direction through design reviews, troubleshooting decisions, and architecture choices.
• Coach and mentor engineers on technical challenges, client work, and professional development.
• Create and maintain SOPs, documentation, status reports, and security findings.
• Support compliance and governance efforts, including security policies, ISMS, and regulatory expectations.
• Explain complex topics to technical and business stakeholders, build client trust, and follow through on commitments.

We are a small, high-end technology consulting firm seeking a senior network engineer for an onsite role in Billings, Montana, with travel to client sites as needed. This position combines hands-on engineering and technical leadership across multiple client environments, with the opportunity to shape client infrastructure, influence technical decisions, and help develop our team. We value excellent work, clear client communication, and follow-through. Compensation is $90,000–$120,000 per year.
