The Role

We are looking for a Senior Accounting Specialist to join the global finance team. The role will be

responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records across a multi-entity and multi-country

environment, including India, the US, South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Morocco, Senegal, and other offices.

The position will cover financial reporting, month-end/year-end closing, consolidation, revenue and

intercompany accounting, statutory audits, tax compliance, program finance, employee settlements, ERP

transformation, process improvement, automation, and team capability building.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting & Controllership

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management

reports in accordance with Ind AS, IFRS, US GAAP, and applicable local standards.

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities across multiple entities.

• Review and post journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and supporting

documentation.

• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

• Prepare global consolidated financial statements, including intercompany eliminations, multi-

currency translation, and consolidation adjustments.

• Coordinate consolidation schedules, chart of accounts, elimination entries, and group-level

reporting packages.

2. Revenue, AR & Intercompany Accounting

Own the complete revenue reconciliation process and track AR aging across entities.

• Match receipts to invoices in the ERP and identify and resolve mismatches.

• Ensure completeness and accuracy of income recognition in line with revenue recognition

policies.

• Review transfer pricing invoices for accuracy and compliance with intercompany agreements.

• Manage intercompany reconciliations, including lease accounting, software cost allocations,

prepaid journals, and insurance accruals.

3. Audit, Compliance & Tax

Manage statutory audits and coordinate with external auditors across multiple countries.

• Prepare audit schedules, respond to queries, compile documentation, and close outstanding

audit items.

• Support and lead multi-country tax compliance, including India GST/TDS, South Africa

VAT/PAYE/EMP, Kenya WHT/VAT/ETR invoices, Zambia NAPSA, Morocco IR/TVA, Senegal TVA,

and US federal/state filings.

• Assist in preparing Form 990 for the US entity.

• Evaluate accounting treatments for complex transactions and support implementation of new

accounting standards.

• Maintain organized compliance schedules and records across entities.

4. Program Finance & Reporting

Provide data for Budget vs. Actuals (BVA) and utilization reporting.

• Reconcile program expenditures against approved budgets and identify variances.

• Collaborate with project managers and FP&A teams to ensure accurate BVA data for donor

reporting and internal decision-making.

5. Employee Advances & Full-and-Final Settlement

Manage employee advances, including issuance, tracking, aging analysis, and recovery.

• Oversee full-and-final settlements for departing employees.

• Validate sub-ledger balances, clear advances, and reconcile leave encashment, gratuity, and

terminal benefits.

• Ensure timely ERP closure and compliance with applicable local labor and tax regulations.

6. ERP Management & Transformation

Support the transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

• Contribute to workflow design, process documentation, user acceptance testing, and team

onboarding.

• Collaborate with Finance, FP&A, and Systems teams to configure accounting workflows.

• Identify automation opportunities within the ERP environment.

7. Process Improvement & Automation

Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes, particularly close cycles, audits, and cross-entity

reconciliations.

• Drive automation and standardization initiatives.

• Build shared trackers, improve close checklists, and streamline intercompany workflows.

• Leverage AI-powered productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT where

appropriate.

• Develop and maintain SOPs for key accounting processes.

8. Team Training & Capability Building

Lead internal training on financial accounting operations, ERP usage, and accounting best

practices.

• Train team members on transfer pricing invoice review, revenue reconciliation, and close

procedures.

• Maintain and expand SLA reporting to track finance team performance and accountability.

Must Have Qualification:

Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a global or multi-entity environment.

• Hands-on experience with multi-currency and multi-geography operations.

• Experience in financial accounting across the Americas, Asia, and Africa.

• Experience with intercompany transactions, foreign currency translations, and consolidation

adjustments.

• Strong working knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, Ind AS, or relevant regional accounting standards.

Experience with ERP systems in a multi-entity environment (Unit4, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP, or similar).

• Experience managing statutory audits, tax compliance filings, and regulatory reporting across

multiple countries.

  • Experience with AI-powered productivity tools for finance and accounting.

• Ability to provide accurate and timely financial information to internal teams, leadership,

auditors, and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) from ICAI or equivalent international body (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or similar).
  • MBA in Finance with a strong emphasis on core financial accounting and reporting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit or international development sector.
  • Knowledge of Business Central is preferred.
  • Exposure to donor/funder reporting requirements.
  • CMA, CS, or other globally recognized accounting certifications are a plus
