DNV Energy Systems is hiring a Project Manager Solar Independent Engineering (Distributed Generation, Residential & Storage) within our team. In this role, you will work on a variety of distributed generation, community solar, commercial & industrial (C&I), residential solar and solar + storage projects throughout North America. You will be exposed to the entire project life cycle, working with the biggest developers and financiers in the space with cutting edge technology.

The primary functions of this role include supporting major customer accounts, performing project due diligence, managing projects, contributing to process improvements, sharing knowledge, obtaining and receiving feedback, and a bit of business development including developing proposals.

DNV is the worlds leading renewable energy consultant. DNVs Solar team holds a substantial market position for independent engineering services to support the financing and construction of solar and solar + storage projects in North America, and our staff are viewed as experts and thought leaders in the industry. In this role, our team provides technical consulting and independent engineering services for solar project developers, financial institutions, and investors who rely on our reports as part of their investment decision making process.

This role can be based out of a DNV office in the following markets: Oakland (CA), San Diego (CA), Austin (TX), Houston (TX), Portland (OR), Seattle (WA), New York City (NY), Medford (MA), or Dallas (TX), presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will at least spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.

The position may also be considered at other DNV offices within the US.

For California, Washington, New York, Washington, D.C., Illinois, and Maryland: DNV provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. For the states of California, Washington, New York, Washington, D.C., Illinois, and Maryland only, the starting pay range for this role is $90,000 - $140,000.

QUALIFICATIONS

What Is Required

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, science, business, energy, or other related field is required
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the solar industry
  • Deft project and time management skills, including an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office
  • Solution oriented thinking skills and high integrity
  • Understanding of energy industry technology (modules, inverters, mounting systems/trackers, balance of system, etc.)
  • Understanding of distributed generation, community solar, and/or residential solar project development, construction, operations, or financing.
  • Supportive, resilient, flexible and proactive team member, eager to work in a collaborative environment
  • Proven Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) mindset and demonstrated behavior-based safety mentality
  • Possesses a digitally curious mindset and has knowledge in AI, automation and digital tools, with demonstrated experience in continuous improvement activities.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills , including ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, presentations, and emails, and to clearly communicate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience.
  • We conduct pre-employment background and drug screenings

What is Preferred

  • Masters degree
  • Some concentration of experience in at least one of the following: solar industry construction and operating contracts, solar project construction, operations/asset management, solar project design/development, module/inverter technology, energy assessment, power marketing/offtake contracting, energy storage technology and implementation, market research/policy, or in the independent engineering function
  • Familiarity with distributed energy resources (DERs), community solar programs, and residential solar business models is a plus.
  • Exposure to contracts (construction, supply, operations, interconnection, offtake, subscription, and/or asset management contracts)
  • Familiarity with budgets and financial models
  • Working knowledge of PVsyst and solar energy assessment
  • Working knowledge of the solar project financing process (direct experience preferred)
  • Working knowledge of energy storage systems, including technology, components, and primary use cases
  • Project management designation or experience
