Technical consultant – superabrasive technology

Hindustan Abrasives has manufactured high-performance grinding wheels since 1985. Our wheels are used in automotive, gear, powertrain, forging, tractor, oil engine, heavy and general engineering.

We make vitrified and resin bonded wheels from 50 mm to 1200 mm: OD, ID, centreless, surface, gear, crankshaft, camshaft, segment, roll and tool room wheels.

We are now moving into superabrasives: vitrified, resin bonded and electroplated CBN and diamond wheels. We are looking for a hands-on technologist to build this capability with us.

THE ROLE

Take superabrasive products from application identification and formulation through lab trials, pilot production, process stabilisation, testing and customer validation. This is not an advisory-only role. You will work on the shop floor, run trials, troubleshoot, set up processes and train our team, alongside management, R&D, production, quality and application teams.

YOU SHOULD HAVE

• 15+ years in the abrasive / superabrasive industry

• Hands-on experience developing CBN and/or diamond grinding wheels

• A track record of moving products from R&D to pilot and commercial production

• Strong command of abrasive grains, bond systems, wheel specifications and manufacturing processes

• The ability to analyse an application and recommend the right superabrasive wheel specification

• Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and customer application problems

• B. E./B. Tech in Mechanical, Production, Chemical, Materials/Metallurgy or a related discipline

PREFERRED

• Experience across vitrified CBN, resin CBN and electroplated CBN, plus diamond wheels

• Applications in automotive, bearing, gear, crankshaft, camshaft, powertrain, tool room or precision grinding

• Customer application development and technical sales support

• Raw material specifications and supplier qualification

• A background as R&D Head, Technology Head, NPD Head, Technical Manager or Senior Manager – R&D in the abrasive/superabrasive industry

• Former superabrasive manufacturer professionals now working as independent consultants or advisors are especially welcome

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Working CBN/diamond wheel prototypes for identified applications

• Repeatable pilot and production manufacturing, with documented processes, SOPs and quality parameters

• Customer trials that lead to approvals, repeat orders or commercialisation

• A strong in-house team that can manufacture, troubleshoot and keep developing superabrasive wheels

ENGAGEMENT

Consultant / Retainer to start, with potential for a long-term or permanent association.

Location: Delhi, with customer/site travel as required

SELECTION

Shortlisted candidates will have a detailed technical discussion covering formulation, scale-up, application engineering and customer trials. Please come ready with specific examples of superabrasive products you personally took from development to production and customer validation.
