Middleware engineer with websphere weblogic

Job Summary:

This role is the technical and engineering lead for middleware and web services across the global estate. Reporting into the SVP of Database and Middleware Engineering, this lead will work with engineering teams to drive the next-generation automation solutions for middleware, and web services: evolving legacy systems while leading build, integration and migration to cloud-native, open-source, AI/agent-powered platforms. The incumbent must combine deep technical credibility with visionary leadership and ability to partner with application, AI, analytics, and operations teams. Over the next 5 years, this role is expected to transform GIC's middleware infrastructure into differentiators for performance, scale, agility, and insight.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Vision: Develop and own a multi-year strategic roadmap for middleware and web services aligned with business goals (e.g., cloud migration, cost optimization, latency SLAs, AI/ML readiness). Expertise in application hosting technologies with specialized emphasis on IBM technologies i.e. Web Sphere/Web Logic Application Server, Web Sphere Portal, Web Sphere Liberty, Web Sphere Process Server, Web Logic Forms and Reports, IHS (IBM HTTP Server) Provide expertise in other web hosting technologies like Oracle Application Server, Apache, Tomcat etc

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role? Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience Skilled Middleware professional with at least 18+ years’ experience in information technology and at least 15+ years hands-on experience on middleware webhosting and application server products in a large organization preferably banking environment Solid knowledge in administering IBM middleware products i.e. Web Sphere and Web Logic Application Server, Web Sphere Portal, Web Sphere Process Server, Web Sphere Liberty, Web Logic Forms and Reports, IHS (IBM HTTP Server) Experience in IT security compliance and implementation and use of security protocols (SSL, Server certificates etc.) Good experience using WAS Scripting, J2 EE, XML, SQL and Shell/Perl Scripting. Experience with Unix system administration and TCP/IP networking Familiarity of Compliance and risk management frameworks and methodologies (ISO27002, SDLC). Strong analytical & troubleshooting skills Hands on experience on at least one public cloud such as AWS, Azure or GCP Success attributes include initiative, the ability to perform under pressure, strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills as well as analytical problem-solving abilities Self-motivated and can work autonomously Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with internal customers and team members Proficiency in working on Linux/Unix and Windows system Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive Middleware disaster recovery plans and end-to-end runbooks for complex infrastructure platform operations Managing support services and change management using Service Now Experience in Dev Ops and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or Spinnaker Experience in Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) tools like Terraform such as write, test, and deploy clean, reusable Terraform modules. Certification in Public cloud and Middleware products is desirable.
