One Watco.Here's what you can expect from Watco:Outstanding culture recognized by Forbes and NewsweekCompetitive compensation and benefitsPaid on-the-job training with peer trainersTraining for conductors, engineers, mechanics, and MOW Team Members at Watco's Safe Performance CenterLeadership and development programs offered through Watco UniversityCareer advancement opportunitiesJob Summary Hourly Pay Rate: $19.00 Schedule: DaysThe Deckhand plays a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of tow and fleet activities, and other maritime duties while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSafely and efficiently build and break tows, maintain fleet integrity, and ensure barges are properly securedFollow all company policies, safety standards, environmental requirements, and U.S. Coast Guard regulationsRespond to emergencies and participate in required safety drills, including man overboard and fire drillsPerform vessel maintenance, including cleaning, scraping, painting, and changing fuel, oil, and filtersHandle lines and rigging during tow building, docking, and barge movement activitiesUse proper knots, tying procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for barge handlingCommunicate effectively with vessel personnel regarding barge movements, distances, and operational needsComplete all required training and assist with onboarding and training new team membersMaintain proper placement and stowage of equipment and perform general dock and terminal housekeeping dutiesWork safely in all weather conditions, wear required PPE, and maintain reliable attendance, including rotational schedules and overtime as neededQualifications• Ability to pass training and required testingEducation High School or GED equivalent
