Job Description
About the Company
Make sure to apply with all the requested information, as laid out in the job overview below.
We are delighted to be working with an established, independent private medical insurance brokerage that helps individuals, families and businesses across the UK find suitable health insurance cover.
Working with some of the UK's leading insurance providers, our client prides itself on delivering impartial advice, competitive policies and a genuinely personalised service.
With over 10 years of experience in the industry, the business has developed a strong reputation for helping customers navigate the often-complex world of private medical insurance.
As part of its continued growth, our client is now looking to expand its network of professional and commercial partnerships, creating an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and commercially driven Partnerships Business Development Manager to join the team.
The Opportunity
This is a brand-new position within the business, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to take ownership of developing and growing our client's partnership network.
Unlike a traditional Business Development Manager role focused on selling directly to consumers, this position is all about building relationships with other businesses and professional organisations.
The objective is simple: identify businesses whose customers could benefit from private medical insurance, establish mutually beneficial partnerships and create a sustainable network of referral opportunities.
Potential partners could include:
Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs)
Wealth Management Companies
Mortgage Brokers and Advisers
Chiropractors and Healthcare Professionals
Financial Services Businesses
Other professional organisations with complementary customer bases
You'll be responsible for identifying opportunities, opening doors, presenting the benefits of partnering with our client and ultimately bringing new partners on board.
As this is a newly created position, there is a real opportunity to make the role your own, develop new approaches to partnership acquisition and play an important part in the company's future growth.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development & Partner Acquisition
Proactively identify and target potential referral partners across relevant industries and professional sectors.
Generate new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, meetings and relationship building.
Engage with key decision-makers, business owners and senior stakeholders to introduce our client's partnership proposition.
Arrange and attend meetings with prospective partners, understanding their businesses, customer bases and potential opportunities for collaboration.
Present the commercial and customer benefits of partnering with the business.
Negotiate and secure new partnership agreements, taking ownership of the process from initial introduction through to onboarding.
Partnership Management & Relationship Development
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with newly acquired partners.
Act as a key point of contact, ensuring partners feel supported, engaged and confident in recommending our client's services.
Identify opportunities to increase referrals and maximise the commercial value of existing partnerships.
Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure a smooth referral process and positive customer experience.
Regularly review partnership performance and identify opportunities for further growth.
Commercial Growth & Strategy
Take ownership of building a strong and sustainable partnership pipeline.
Research new markets, sectors and partnership opportunities.
Develop and implement effective business development strategies to increase the number of active referral partners.
Monitor activity, pipeline progression and partnership performance against agreed objectives.
Provide market intelligence, competitor insights and feedback to support the wider business strategy.
Represent the business professionally at meetings, networking events and industry functions.
About You
We're looking for a confident, proactive and commercially minded Business Development Manager who genuinely enjoys building relationships and creating new business opportunities.
You'll be someone who is comfortable starting conversations, opening doors and engaging with decision-makers, but equally understands the importance of developing long-term, mutually beneficial relationships.
Ideally, you'll bring:
Proven experience in a Business Development Manager, Partnerships Manager, Account Development or similar commercially focused role.
A strong track record of generating new business and developing professional relationships.
Experience working within a B2B sales environment, ideally involving referral partnerships, introducer networks or strategic business relationships.
Confidence engaging with business owners, directors and senior decision-makers.
Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
The ability to identify commercial opportunities and turn initial conversations into productive partnerships.
A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage your own pipeline and workload.
Strong organisational skills and a results-driven mindset.
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to meet prospective partners.
Experience within the following sectors would be particularly advantageous:
Financial Services / Insurance or Private Medical Insurance / Wealth Management / Mortgage or Protection Services / Healthcare or Employee Benefits / Professional Services
However, direct insurance experience isn't necessarily essential. We're equally interested in speaking with talented business development professionals who have a proven ability to build B2B relationships, develop referral networks and secure new commercial partnerships.
