Our client, a fashion accessories brand, is seeking a Designer - Handbags to lead seasonal product development from concept through final execution. Based in New York, NY, this role is fully onsite and is ideal for a commercially minded designer who can balance trend, creativity, construction, and cost to develop compelling handbag collections.

Job Duties Include:Develop seasonal handbag concepts, collections, and product assortments from initial research through final designResearch market, trend, color, material, and competitive insights to inform product directionCreate and manage CADs, technical packages, product specifications, and development updatesPartner with merchandising, sales, and product development teams to balance design vision with pricing, margin, and customer needsCollaborate with domestic and international vendors throughout sampling, approvals, and productionReview product construction, materials, fit, quality, and costing to ensure design standards are achievedPresent seasonal concepts and product recommendations during internal and customer-facing reviewsSupport private-label and account-specific product development as neededProvide creative guidance and feedback to junior design team members
Job Qualifications Include:4+ years of handbag, accessories, or related product design experienceStrong understanding of handbag construction, materials, hardware, technical development, and costingExperience managing products from initial concept through development and productionStrong commercial awareness with an understanding of pricing, margins, and retail trendsProficiency in CAD and industry-standard design softwareExcellent creative, presentation, and communication skillsExperience partnering with factories, vendors, and cross-functional product teamsAbility to manage multiple seasonal priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentExperience developing commercially successful products for wholesale, retail, or consumer brands preferred
Salary: $80K - $100K
Schedule: Fully onsite in New York, NY
