Position Summary

Avet Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial General Manager - Business Development (US Business) to drive strategic growth initiatives across the US pharmaceutical market. The role will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, negotiating, and executing business development opportunities including product licensing, in-licensing, out-licensing, strategic partnerships, contract manufacturing opportunities, and portfolio expansion initiatives for the US market. The position will be based in Pune and will work closely with US commercial, regulatory, R&D, supply chain, and finance teams to accelerate business growth. The role requires extensive interaction with US-based customers, partners, and pharmaceutical companies.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategic Growth

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in the US Generics and Specialty Pharmaceuticals market.
  • Drive portfolio expansion through in-licensing, product acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop and execute annual business development plans aligned with the company's US growth strategy.
  • Evaluate market attractiveness, competitive landscape, pricing dynamics, and commercialization opportunities.
  • Build long-term relationships with pharmaceutical companies, wholesalers, distributors, and strategic partners.

Licensing & Partnership Management

  • Lead negotiations for licensing, supply, distribution, development, and commercialization agreements.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities with pharmaceutical manufacturers, CMOs, CDMOs, and marketing partners.
  • Coordinate due diligence activities for strategic alliances and partnership opportunities.
  • Work closely with legal and regulatory teams to finalize partnership agreements and ensure compliance.

Market Intelligence & Portfolio Management

  • Conduct comprehensive US pharmaceutical market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and product opportunity assessment.
  • Track market trends, patent expiries, FDA approvals, shortages, and pricing movements.
  • Provide business cases and financial evaluations for new product selection and portfolio expansion.

Commercial & Financial Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial models, revenue forecasts, business valuations, and profitability assessments.
  • Develop pricing and profitability strategies for portfolio assets.
  • Monitor deal performance and ROI of strategic investments.
  • Drive revenue growth through strategic business collaborations and commercial partnerships.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Commercial, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Finance, and Legal.
  • Present business opportunities and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Represent Avet Pharmaceuticals at international conferences, exhibitions, and partner meetings.
  • Build and maintain a strong industry network within the US pharmaceutical ecosystem.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy / Science, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Business, or related discipline.
  • MBA from a reputed institute preferred.

Experience

  • 12-18+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical Business Development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience handling US pharmaceutical markets.
  • Proven experience in Generics, Specialty Products, Licensing, Strategic Alliances, or Portfolio Development.
  • Strong network within US pharmaceutical companies, distributors, and business partners.
  • Experience with product evaluation, due diligence, contract negotiations, and deal structuring.
