AppleOne is seeking an experienced Ocean Import & Logistics Coordinator who understands international freight operations and enjoys the challenge of keeping shipments moving efficiently.
This is a hands-on position involving the coordination of ocean freight shipments, customs documentation, transportation partners, and time-sensitive deadlines. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, anticipates potential problems, and understands the importance of accuracy and follow-through.
What You'll Be DoingCoordinate international ocean freight shipments from booking through delivery and container return.Manage approximately 10-12 containers weekly, primarily arriving from Asia.Communicate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, trucking companies, suppliers, and internal departments.Coordinate customs documentation and ISF processing requirements.Monitor container availability, pickup schedules, delivery appointments, and return deadlines.Proactively address shipment delays and minimize demurrage, detention, and unnecessary transportation expenses.Track shipments, maintain accurate records, and communicate updates.Manage time-sensitive correspondence and ensure outstanding items receive appropriate follow-up.Assist with freight rate coordination and transportation planning.
What We're Looking ForHands-on experience in ocean imports, freight forwarding, international shipping, or related logistics operations.Familiarity with customs documentation, freight coordination, and container tracking.Understanding of demurrage, detention, and the financial impact of missed deadlines.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments and changing priorities.Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.A proactive approach, sound judgment, and the ability to learn quickly.Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, and general business software.Ability to work independently while collaborating with a busy team.
