About the Role

STUDIO SANGI is looking for a talented CG Effects Artist to join our team for our upcoming 2.5 D Animation Series.

You will be responsible for designing and creating stunning, stylized visual effects that enhance the beauty and storytelling of the series. Working in a hybrid 2.5 D pipeline, you will create effects that seamlessly blend with both 3 D environments and 2 D animation, with a strong artistic reference to the magical, organic, and nature-inspired aesthetic of Studio Ghibli.

Key Responsibilities

- Create high-quality CG effects including particles, fluids, fire, smoke, magic, wind, water, foliage interaction, debris, and atmospheric effects

- Design stylized, painterly effects that match the overall 2.5 D art direction

- Simulate environment physics and natural phenomena (wind, rain, leaves, clouds, etc.)

- Integrate CG effects with 2 D animation layers and 3 D environments

- Work closely with 3 D Environment Artists, 3 D Animators, and 2 D Animation teams

- Optimize effects for rendering performance and pipeline efficiency

- Participate in creative reviews and iterate effects based on director feedback

- Maintain visual consistency across all shots and sequences

Requirements

- Proficiency in Houdini, After Effects, nuke and other industry standard softwares

- Strong understanding of particle systems, dynamics, simulation, and rendering

- Ability to create stylized, non-photorealistic effects with an artistic touch

- Experience working in 2.5 D or hybrid animation pipelines is a big advantage

- Good knowledge of lighting, shading, and compositing integration

- Strong artistic sensibility and understanding of animation principles
