Field Accounting Manager

Provides day-to-day supervision and mentoring to all accounting and administrative support staff assigned to the same project. Identifies and implements process improvements, cost savings, and billing opportunities. </p><p> Here's how an Field Accounting Manager for PCL Industrial Services, Inc. contributes to our team: </p> Responsibilities <ul><li> Monitors and approves the daily/weekly/monthly/yearly accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and others as required, in accordance with legislative, contract terms, PCL policy, procedures, and guidelines. </li><li> Assists with the implementation and monitoring for adherence to district/ company administration and accounting policies and procedures. </li><li> Reviews and analyzes all project adjustments, submissions, and reports and ensures they are completed in a timely manner. Follows up and manages any issues, problems, or discrepancies. </li><li> Performs monthly job cost report analysis and reconciliation in coordination with the project manager for timely financial reporting. </li><li> Provides various ad hoc reports and analysis, then presents information to accounting manager, field business manager and/or project team. </li><li> Prepares, reviews, and analyzes all month-end and year-end project reporting. </li><li> Assists with financial year-end procedures. </li><li> Assists with assembling information for internal financial reporting requirements and external financial reporting requirements. </li><li> Works with operations management and accounting manager to effectively analyze and manage project cash flow and provides recommendations accordingly. </li><li> Ensures all project and subcontract required documentation, including insurance, bonding, SDI, workers compensation, statutory declarations, and lien waivers are in place and renewed accordingly. </li><li> Works closely with the project team members to provide general guidance and expertise on contract/ subcontracts, including interpretation of contract/ subcontract documents, and negotiates subcontract changes as required. </li><li> Oversees and is accountable for the setup, maintenance, adjustments, and monitoring of all project accounting processes and procedures as required. </li><li> Administers all governmental compliance reporting required by the contract (e.g., certified payrolls, diverse business participants, project labor statistics hiring goals). </li><li> Establishes project setup procedures aligned with contract terms and conditions outlined in owner contracts and trade partner documentation. </li></ul> Qualifications <ul><li> Bachelors degree in a related discipline. </li><li> Active pursuit of accounting designation an asset. </li><li> 3 to 5 years of progressive experience with direct project administration and accounting in the construction or a related industry preferred. On-site project experience an asset. </li><li> Intermediate construction knowledge; understands general construction terms and processes. </li><li> Advanced knowledge and understanding of full-cycle accounting, with the ability to teach and mentor more junior staff. </li><li> Advanced understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash-flows, with ability to analyze and recommend potential strategies. </li><li> Intermediate understanding of project forecasting and budgeting. </li><li> Advanced understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash flows, with ability to analyze and recommend potential strategies. </li><li> Understands and complies with all labor agreements, government legislation, and PCL policies and procedures. Intermediate knowledge of government legislation regarding accounting and applicable generally accepted accounting practices and standards. </li><li> Understanding of Lean principles and process improvement. </li><li> Basic knowledge of bid and contract securities and insurance as they relate to risk management, claims management, pricing, and accounting. </li><li> Intermediate understanding of subcontract PO terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance (SDI) and bonding requirements. </li><li> Basic ability to explain and negotiate subcontract terms and conditions. </li><li> Intermediate understanding of owner contracts as they relate to payment terms, billing requirements, audit rights, and cost-of-work definition, insurance, and bonding. </li> </ul> <p> Your Work Has Purpose Here </p><p> PCL projects are where life happens, where communities connect, careers begin, and progress is made.
