Our office, Lehigh Valley Oral Surgery and Implant Center PC - Stroudsburg, is looking for a qualified surgical assistant. This position also supports the Bethlehem as needed. We are looking for a talented and skilled Surgical Assistant to help us accomplish our mission to improve the lives of our patients by providing a world-class specialty experience for every patient. Your Responsibilities You will ensure excellent patient service and lift administrative and basic dental tasks off the Dentist’s shoulders. You will be focused on ensuring that the patients' needs, concerns, and questions are answered. You will help keep the patient relaxed and comfortable during their visit, being the patients go to resource during their visit which includes the following:
- Prepare the surgical area, instruments, and equipment before each procedure.
- Assist the surgeon during procedures by anticipating the surgeon's needs and assisting as required.
- Keep surgical areas and instruments clean and sterilized.
- Monitor and record patient vitals and ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare and provide post-operative instructions and materials to patients.
- Help maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the surgeon or office manager.
- Must travel to the Bethlehem office on an as-needed basis
- At least 1+ years of experience as an oral surgical assistant
- X-Ray certification is preferred
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
- Understanding of health & safety regulations
- Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks
- Good computer skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- A strong attention to detail
- Well-organized and reliable
- A high school diploma
- A certificate from an accredited surgical assistant program (if required by law)
- An active state radiology license (if required by law)
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment
- Must be able to assist patients safely in and out of chairs or treatment areas
- Must be able to maintain clinical positioning for extended periods
- Must be able to work around medical equipment and instruments
- Must be able to adhere to OSHA and infection control standards
- Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
- Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations
