Founding Engineer, Full-Stack Product

MimoLabs builds Mimo, an agentic system for making physical things. Describe anything and Mimo helps you make it: he designs the geometry, simulates that it can be made, configures material, process and price, and routes it to production, across 3D printing, CNC, laser cutting and more. Mimo ships today as Mimo Studio for anyone regardless of skill, and we are building developer tools and enterprise solutions for more technical applications.

We are a VC funded, experienced technical team, based at Newlab in Detroit and remote across the US.

THE PROBLEM YOU WOULD OWN

You will be a generalist across our codebases, front end and back, with the judgment of someone who has made physical things. You pick up an entire project and run with it: scope, build, ship, own.

- Whole projects, end to end. From the first question to production, without waiting to be told how.

- Full-stack ownership. UI, API, data model and the long-running jobs behind them.

- 3D in the browser. Interactive, fast and correct on real-world models.

- Working with Mimo. The experience of building a part with an agent alongside.

- Quality and measurement. Performance, reliability and polish on what users touch, with the numbers to prove it.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

- 5+ years building customer-facing products, with large contributions to codebases or projects you can point to.

- High agency. You take an entire project from scoping to shipped on your own, and you ask for help, not permission.

- Product sensibility: UX, speed and polish; comfortable shaping the problem without a product manager.

- React and TypeScript, and a Python back end with relational data modeling.

- Interactive 3D on the web (Three.js or equivalent) with proven performance work, or a strong front-end engineer ready to go deep there.

- Hands-on making: printed, machined, molded, soldered or assembled real objects.

- Daily use of AI coding agents, with a high bar on what they produce.

NICE TO HAVE

- CAD, 3D printing or product-configurator software.

- WebGPU; glTF asset pipelines.

- Measured onboarding, activation or conversion work.

- Chat and agent interfaces.

- Manufacturing, hardware or shop-floor background.

Everyone runs several AI coding agents using our custom dev tooling within a proven process. You have the freedom to expand your own tooling and influence how we build and ship fast. This role needs both product judgment and fluency with how we build.

Expect our founders up at 2am sending memes while in flowstate building core product and making wild breakthroughs.

Remote across the US, with the company's home at Newlab in Detroit and occasional travel there.
