The studio emphasizes a balance of aesthetics, usability, and material integrity, working closely with clients, makers, and suppliers throughout the design process. The studio offers a collaborative environment where designers can contribute to projects from concept to final production. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Furniture and Product Designer role based in Ahmedabad. The designer will develop concepts for furniture and products, create detailed sketches and 3D models, and prepare technical drawings and specifications for prototyping and production. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with the team on design direction, researching materials and manufacturing processes, and iterating designs based on feedback from users, clients, and fabricators. The role also involves participating in user research sessions, refining designs to improve ergonomics and usability, coordinating with vendors and workshops, and supporting documentation for presentations and production handoffs. Qualifications Strong foundation in Product Design, with experience developing furniture or physical products from concept to production. Proficiency in Visual Design for physical products, including form, proportion, color, and material selection. Ability to apply Design Thinking methods to structure problems, generate ideas, and iterate solutions. Skills in User Research and UX Research to understand user needs, test prototypes, and improve usability and ergonomics. Comfort with design and modeling software (e.g., CAD tools such as Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar). Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and joinery relevant to furniture and consumer products. Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to communicate design intent clearly to cross-functional partners. Relevant degree or diploma in Industrial Design, Product Design, Furniture Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
