Position: Senior Manager

Department: Higher Education Advisory Office (International Relations)

Location: UPES, Dehradun (Kandoli & Bidholi Campus)

Role Purpose

Provide comprehensive guidance and support to students aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies abroad. The incumbent will counsel students, assist them throughout the application journey, and facilitate awareness initiatives related to international higher education opportunities. The role involves guiding students in preparing high-quality application documents, managing university applications, and providing visa-related guidance to ensure successful admissions and student mobility outcomes. The incumbent will work closely with the International relations department to enhance the outcome.

Key Responsibilities

Student Counselling & Guidance

  • Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions for students interested in overseas higher education.
  • Guide students in identifying suitable countries, universities, and academic programs based on their profiles and career aspirations.
  • Develop personalized application strategies and timelines.

Application Support

  • Advise students on admission requirements, application procedures, and deadlines.
  • Provide guidance on standardized tests including IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, and equivalent examinations.
  • Ensure students receive timely support throughout the application lifecycle.

Awareness & Outreach

  • Organize seminars, workshops, webinars, and information sessions on international higher education opportunities.
  • Coordinate interactions between students and representatives of international universities.
  • Promote awareness regarding emerging study destinations, programs, and scholarship opportunities.

Scholarships & Financial Guidance

  • Provide information on scholarships, grants, fellowships, and funding opportunities.
  • Guide students regarding education loans and financial planning for overseas education.

Student Tracking & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of counselling sessions, applications, admits, scholarships, and enrollment outcomes.
  • Generate periodic reports and analytics on student engagement and application trends.
  • Contribute to institutional data and benchmarking initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with academic departments and international university partners.
  • Support admission drives, educational fairs, and partnership-related activities.

SOP & Application Support

  • Guide students in drafting compelling and personalized Statements of Purpose (SOPs).
  • Review and edit SOPs, Personal Statements, Motivation Letters, and Scholarship Essays.
  • Assist students in preparing Letters of Recommendation (LORs), CVs, Resumes, and portfolios.
  • Ensure application documents are aligned with university-specific requirements.
  • Conduct one-on-one application strategy sessions with students.
  • Maintain high standards of originality, clarity, and professionalism in all application documents.

University Application Management

  • Support students throughout the application lifecycle, from university shortlisting to final submission.
  • Assist in completing online application forms and uploading supporting documents.
  • Monitor admission deadlines and application status.
  • Coordinate with international universities regarding application-related queries and requirements.
  • Track admission offers, conditional admits, and enrollment confirmations.

Visa Guidance & Pre-Departure Support

  • Provide guidance on student visa requirements for major destinations including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, and Asia.
  • Assist students in compiling visa documentation and financial evidence.
  • Conduct visa readiness and mock interview sessions.
  • Guide students on visa application procedures, timelines, and compliance requirements.
  • Support students with CAS, I-20, offer letter, insurance, accommodation, and other pre-departure documentation.
  • Organize pre-departure orientation programs covering travel, accommodation, immigration regulations, and cultural adaptation.

Workshops & Capacity Building

  • Organize SOP-writing and application-preparation workshops.
  • Conduct sessions on visa processes and documentation requirements.
  • Create templates, checklists, guides, and resource material for students.
  • Keep students informed about changing admission and visa regulations globally.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education, Management, International Relations, Counseling, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in study abroad counselling, international education, university admissions, or a related field.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of global higher education systems.
  • Knowledge of admission processes across major destinations (USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong counseling and student engagement abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/student management systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple student cases simultaneously.

  • Number of students counselled.
  • Application conversion and admit rates.
  • Student satisfaction scores.
  • Number of outreach sessions conducted.
  • Scholarship and funding success rates.
