About the PositionJetton & Meredith is seeking an Associate Family Law Attorney to join our growing Family Law practice. This is an opportunity to build your career alongside an experienced team of family law attorneys while taking an active role in representing clients through some of the most important and challenging moments of their lives.Our Family Law team handles a wide range of matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, separation agreements, and other complex domestic matters. The attorney in this position will work closely with our Family Law partners and legal support team while managing an assigned caseload and developing meaningful client relationships.We are looking for an attorney who is hardworking, dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing clients with excellent representation and service.
What You'll Do
As an Associate Family Law Attorney, you will:Manage an assigned caseload of family law matters from intake through resolutionCommunicate directly with clients and provide clear, practical legal guidance throughout their casesDraft pleadings, motions, agreements, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documentsConduct legal research and analyze issues related to North Carolina family lawPrepare for and participate in hearings, calendar calls, mediations, negotiations, and other court proceedingsWork closely with partners, attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to develop case strategyReview financial records, discovery responses, and other case-related documentsNegotiate with opposing counsel and assist in resolving matters when appropriateMaintain organized and accurate case files, deadlines, and client communicationsProvide responsive, professional, and compassionate service to clientsParticipate in firm initiatives, professional development, and community involvement as appropriate
What We're Looking ForJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law schoolActive license to practice law in North Carolina, or eligibility for admissionStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilitiesStrong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to manage multiple matters and deadlinesProfessional judgment and attention to detailAbility to work independently while also collaborating with attorneys and support staffA client-focused approach and an understanding of the sensitive nature of family law mattersPrior family law, litigation, courtroom, or related legal experience is preferred
