Job Description
<p> POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: </p><ul><li><p> Location: Winston Salem, NC </p></li><li><p> PRN - As needed </p></li></ul><p> EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: </p><ul><li><p> Associate's degree from an approved school of Radiologic Technology. </p></li><li><p> Completion of Special Procedures Training Program or one year experience as a technologist in Special Procedures. </p></li><li><p> Completion of one week sterile technique training program to be provided by the OR education coordinator, if no prior Special Procedures experience or/with surgical technique </p></li></ul><p> LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: </p><ul><li><p> Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required. </p></li><li><p> CPR certification required - BLS. </p></li><li><p> Registered Cardiovascular-Interventional Technologist ( ARRT- CV or VI) preferred. </p></li></ul><p> ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: </p><ul><li><p> Ensures readiness of emergency equipment and supplies. Recognizes and reacts appropriately to potential emergency situations. </p></li><li><p> Provides technologist coverage for 24-hour emergency endovascular surgical services. </p></li><li><p> Performs or assists in performing procedures and/or diagnostic tests and/or therapeutic exams, as well as maintains files and compiles records according to procedure as required for accurate and current departmental records and/or reports. </p></li><li><p> Provides instruction, education and consultation to health care personnel and patients to promote and improve quality patient care and maintains appropriate education/credentials to accomplish work objectives. </p></li><li><p> Performs routine analysis on imaging equipment to assure proper working conditions and a minimum of downtime. </p></li></ul><p> SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: </p><ul><li><p> Good oral, written, and listening communication skills </p></li><li><p> Ability to work independently and prioritize clinical responsibilities </p></li><li><p> Ability to navigate multiple computer systems </p></li><li><p> Training skills </p></li><li><p> Knowledge of vascular anatomy </p></li></ul><p> WORK ENVIRONMENT: </p><ul><li><p> Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases </p></li><li><p> Possibe exposure to the risk of bloodborne diseases </p></li><li><p> Possible exposure to toxic chemicals </p></li><li><p> Regular exposure to low-level radiation </p></li><li><p> Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements </p></li><li><p> Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances </p></li><li><p> Subject to varying and unpredictable situations </p></li><li><p> Handles emergency or crisis situations </p></li><li><p> May perform emergency care </p></li><li><p> Subject to long irregular hours </p></li><li><p> Requires judgment action which could result in the death of a patient Required protective equipment including eye protection, face protection, gown, lead apron, mask, sterile and non-sterile medical gloves </p></li></ul>
