About UsFor more than 50 years, MAC Products has designed and built equipment for transmitting, distributing, and controlling electrical power, mainly for the electric utility and electrified transit industries. Our 4.5-acre South Kearny facility combines CNC and conventional manufacturing with a fully equipped quality assurance lab.
The RoleWe're a low-volume, high-mix shop, so every job can be different. We need a Lead QC Inspector who doesn't stop at finding a defect; they trace it to its root cause and work with manufacturing and engineering to fix it for good. You'll be the go-to person for our inspectors, assigning daily work and helping the team grow. Reports to the Quality Manager.
What You'll DoInspect machined and fabricated metal parts and assemblies across a wide product rangeAssign and prioritize daily inspection work for the QC teamCoach inspectors on measurement, blueprint reading, and inspection methodsInvestigate nonconformances to root cause and drive corrective actions with manufacturing and engineeringDocument and close out nonconformances and corrective actionsPerform visual weld inspection (training provided)
RequirementsMinimum High school diploma or GED5+ years of hands-on QC inspection in machining, metal fabrication, or industrial manufacturingLow-volume, high-mix experience (job shop, custom fabrication, industrial equipment)Strong skills with calipers, micrometers, height, bore, and thread gauges, and indicatorsBlueprint reading and working knowledge of GD&TProven root-cause problem solving (5 Whys, fishbone, 8D)Experience training others or serving as a team's go-to personSelf-motivated and a clear communicatorExperience limited to pharmaceutical, laboratory, or high-volume single-product QC generally isn't a match for this role.
