Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist – B2B SaaS

Location: India

Function: Finance – Accounts Receivable / Collections

Customer Base: Hotels and Hospitality Groups

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, persistent and commercially minded Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist to help us improve cash collections from our global hotel customers.

This is not a role for someone who simply sends reminder emails or follows a predefined call script.

Our collections organization is evolving. We have made significant progress in strengthening our processes, systems and tools, but there is still work to do. We therefore need people who are comfortable operating in an environment where not every answer is documented and where personal initiative, judgment and ownership matter.

You will own a portfolio of hotel customers with outstanding receivables and be responsible for driving those balances toward resolution and payment.

You will communicate directly with hotel finance teams, controllers, accounts payable departments and other customer stakeholders through phone calls and email. You will investigate why invoices have not been paid, determine the appropriate next action, secure payment commitments and persistently follow through until the issue is resolved.

The best person for this role is assertive without being aggressive, persistent without becoming irritating, and customer-oriented without losing sight of the objective: collecting money that is legitimately owed to us.

What You Will Do

Own Your Collections Portfolio

* Take end-to-end ownership of a portfolio of B2B customer receivables.

* Review overdue invoices and determine which accounts require immediate attention.

* Prioritize your work based on aging, amount outstanding, customer risk, previous commitments and likelihood of collection.

* Develop a clear collection strategy for individual customers rather than treating every account the same way.

* Maintain disciplined follow-up until balances are either collected or legitimately resolved.

Speak Directly With Customers

* Proactively call hotel finance teams, Accounts Payable departments, controllers and other customer contacts regarding overdue invoices.

* Conduct confident, professional and courteous collection conversations.

* Clearly explain outstanding balances and establish what is preventing payment.

* Secure specific payment commitments, including expected payment dates and amounts.

* Follow up rigorously on commitments that are not honored.

* Escalate appropriately when normal collection efforts are unsuccessful.

Investigate Rather Than Simply Chase

When an invoice is unpaid, your job is to understand why.

You may need to determine whether:

* the invoice was received;

* the correct entity was billed;

* a purchase order is required;

* there is a billing or contractual dispute;

* documentation is missing;

* an invoice has been approved but is awaiting payment;

* the customer contact has changed;

* responsibility sits with the hotel, management company or corporate office;

* the customer has made a payment that has not yet been applied; or

* the customer is simply delaying payment.

You will work across Finance, Customer Success, Sales and other internal teams to remove obstacles and move accounts toward resolution.

Drive Commitments to Completion

A promise to pay is not the same as a payment.

You will:

* document customer commitments;

* follow up before and after agreed payment dates;

* identify broken promises quickly;

* determine the next appropriate escalation;

* maintain accurate notes and next actions; and

* continue ownership until cash is received or the account reaches a documented resolution.

Improve How We Work

Our processes are continuing to mature, and we expect our collections team to help make them better.

You will be encouraged to identify:

* recurring reasons invoices become overdue;

* customer communication problems;

* inefficient internal processes;

* missing information or documentation;

* billing issues;

* system or workflow gaps; and

* opportunities to improve collections effectiveness.

We value people who don’t simply say, “the process doesn’t work.”

We value people who say, “here is what keeps going wrong, here is what I think is causing it, and here is how we could fix it.”

What Success Looks Like

Success will ultimately be measured by outcomes, not activity alone.

Depending on your portfolio, performance may include measures such as:

* reduction in overdue Accounts Receivable;

* collections against assigned balances;

* improvement in aging;

* reduction in balances greater than 60/90/120 days;

* payment commitments obtained and subsequently honored;

* speed of resolving disputes and payment blockers;

* quality and accuracy of account notes and follow-up actions; and

* disciplined management of your customer portfolio.

Call volume and email activity are important, but activity without results is not success.

What We Are Looking For

Required

* Approximately 2–6 years of experience in B2B Accounts Receivable, collections, credit control or a closely related role.

* Experience personally contacting business customers regarding overdue invoices.

* Strong spoken and written English.

* Comfortable conducting collection conversations over the phone.

* Confidence speaking with customers at different levels of seniority.

* Strong follow-through and attention to detail.

* Ability to manage a sizeable customer portfolio and competing priorities.

* Ability to investigate problems rather than simply escalate them.

* Comfortable working with spreadsheets, CRM/ERP systems and other financial applications.

* Strong sense of personal accountability.

Particularly Valuable

Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:

* B2B SaaS or recurring-revenue businesses;

* hospitality or hotel technology;

* travel technology;

* technology services;

* international Accounts Receivable;

* subscription billing;

* working with hotel groups, management companies or franchise organizations;

* Salesforce;

* NetSuite;

* Zuora; or

* modern collections / Accounts Receivable platforms.

The Characteristics That Matter Most

Ownership

You don’t wait for someone else to tell you what to do next. If a customer hasn’t paid, you determine the next logical action and pursue it.

Persistence

You are comfortable following up repeatedly when necessary. Silence from a customer causes you to change tactics—not abandon the account.

Assertiveness

You can ask directly for payment and hold customers accountable for commitments while remaining respectful and professional.

Curiosity

When something does not make sense, you investigate.

Judgment

You understand the difference between a customer who cannot pay, a customer with a legitimate dispute, a customer caught in an administrative problem and a customer who is simply delaying payment.

Organization

Every meaningful customer interaction should result in a clear answer to:

What happened? What happens next? Who owns it? By when?

Commercial Empathy

Collections is not about damaging customer relationships. It is about resolving legitimate financial obligations while treating customers professionally.

You can maintain a constructive relationship while still making it clear that outstanding obligations need to be resolved.

You May Be a Great Fit If…

You naturally think:

* “Who actually controls payment?”

* “Why has this invoice not been paid?”

* “What specifically needs to happen to get this paid?”

* “When exactly will payment be made?”

* “Who else should I contact?”

* “What did the customer promise?”

* “Did they keep that promise?”

* “What is my next action if they don’t?”

rather than simply:

* “I sent another reminder.”

Why This Role Is Interesting

You will join a company actively improving the way it manages Accounts Receivable and collections.

You will have the opportunity not only to collect outstanding balances, but also to help build a more disciplined, scalable and effective collections operation.

For someone who enjoys solving problems, talking to customers, owning outcomes and seeing tangible results from their work, this can be a highly rewarding role.
