What You’ll Be Doing (position summary):

Reporting to the CEO and President of CIBC India, this role provides strategic support, governance leadership, and operational oversight to help advance the strategic priorities of CIBC India. The position serves as a critical partner to the Head of CIBC India, enabling effective governance, cross-functional coordination, and disciplined execution through strong planning, stakeholder management, and leadership support.

The role also includes leadership responsibility for managing the functional leads within scope to ensure alignment, coordination, and execution across the portfolio. This role requires a highly organized and adaptable leader with strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage a diverse and evolving portfolio, including sensitive and high-impact matters requiring discretion, objectivity, and executive maturity.

How You’ll Succeed (responsibilities):

Governance, Steering Committees & Stakeholder Management:

Serve as the lead for governance, steering committees, and stakeholder management, with overall accountability and day-to-day coordination.

  • Lead key governance forums, including steering committees, weekly staff meetings, town halls, and strategic planning sessions, ensuring effective structure, leadership oversight, and alignment to business priorities.
  • Provide direction and oversight for governance meeting management, including agenda setting, minutes, action tracking, and follow-through, with day-to-day coordination supported through a reporting delegate to ensure decisions are documented and executed effectively.
  • Partner across a broad matrix of internal and external stakeholders, including global and regional leadership, functional heads, and business partners, to gather input, align priorities, and drive coordinated outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Head of CIBC India by providing strategic briefings, preparing materials, and ensuring the leader is well prepared to engage effectively and provide oversight across key priorities.
  • Oversee cross-functional initiatives within scope, ensuring appropriate governance, visibility, and accountability across teams for delivery against commitments.
  • Ensure issues of significance are surfaced appropriately and escalated in a timely manner through the right governance and leadership channels.

India Legal Entity Governance & Compliance:

Ensure the India legal entity is supported by effective governance, monitoring, and reporting processes across applicable regulatory, statutory, and governance requirements.

  • Oversee governance processes supporting legal entity obligations, including monitoring of key regulatory, statutory, and governance requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate governance forums, reporting routines, and escalation mechanisms are in place to support leadership oversight of legal entity obligations and emerging issues.
  • Coordinate with key internal and external stakeholders, including Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, auditors, advisors, and regulators as required, to support sound governance and management visibility.
  • Provide reporting to leadership and relevant governance committees on legal entity governance status, key issues, thematic risks, and remediation progress.
  • Drive transparency, accountability, and effective follow-up on issues requiring management attention.
  • Support a strong governance culture by ensuring responsibilities, decisions, and escalations are managed in a clear and disciplined manner.

INSIDER RISK & INVESTIGATIONS:

Lead the enterprise approach to insider risk management and internal investigations for CIBC India.

  • Establish and oversee the insider risk and investigations framework, including governance, escalation, case management, and reporting protocols.
  • Lead or oversee sensitive investigations involving employee misconduct, policy breaches, information misuse, fraud-related concerns, conflicts of interest, retaliation matters, and other internal risk events.
  • Ensure investigations are conducted with integrity, confidentiality, objectivity, and appropriate procedural discipline.
  • Coordinate with HR, Legal, Risk, Security, and other relevant partners to support case management, remediation, disciplinary outcomes, and control improvements where required.
  • Identify trends, root causes, and systemic vulnerabilities arising from investigations and insider risk events.
  • Drive improvements in prevention, awareness, reporting, and response capabilities related to insider risk.
  • Provide executive reporting on significant cases, themes, and remediation actions, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and discretion.

AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS:

  • As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • For People Managers: As a manager of people, this job has the authority to assign tasks to employees within their span of control, select individuals for hire, assess individual performance, make employee compensation decisions and take disciplinary measures up to and including termination.

Experience: 15 – 20 years of experience

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

  • 15–20 years of progressive experience in governance, management and business operations, enterprise leadership, corporate security, investigations, risk, CSR, or senior business management roles, preferably within a GCC and/or a regulated financial services or technology environment.
  • Experience with new GCC setups and being part of the journey to scale to 2000+ is a plus.
  • University degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree such as an MBA or equivalent is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading governance forums, steering committees, and executive-level meetings.
  • Strong understanding of governance, escalation, risk management, and regulatory oversight practices in a complex organization.
  • Experience leading or overseeing one or more of the following areas is preferred: physical security, insider risk, investigations, employee conduct matters, or corporate responsibility / community investment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting executive-level internal and external communications.
  • Strong matrix management skills with the ability to influence without direct authority across a complex, global organization.
  • High degree of organizational agility, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and deliver results under pressure.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • High degree of judgment, discretion, and ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters appropriately.
