About the Role
Cherry Bekaert is seeking a Senior Associate to join our growing Sales Tax Compliance Outsourcing practice. This role is responsible for managing multi-state sales tax compliance engagements, supporting client relationships, and driving efficient delivery across U. S. and offshore teams.
The Senior Associate will serve as a—leading select client engagements while supporting team members, improving processes, and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Management
Oversee end-to-end sales tax compliance processes, including data intake, return preparation, review, filings, and payments
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of multi-state filings in accordance with client deadlines
Review workpapers, returns, and reconciliations for quality and completeness
Issue Resolution
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day compliance issues, including data variances and filing discrepancies
Review, analyze, and resolve sales tax jurisdiction notices related to ongoing compliance
Global Team Coordination
Act as liaison between U. S. and India-based teams to ensure alignment on deliverables and timelines
Coordinate workflow, communicate priorities, and support team development
Process Improvement & Training
Identify opportunities to improve compliance workflows, automation, and review efficiency
Assist in training on compliance processes, tools, and client service expectations
Qualifications
3-5 years of sales and use tax compliance experience
Strong experience managing multi-state compliance engagements and management of filings and payments
Experience addressing jurisdiction notices and compliance-related inquiries
Familiarity with tax software (e.g., Vertex, Avalara) and data processes
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Key Skills
Strong technical knowledge of sales and use tax compliance
Analytical mindset with attention to detail
Effective communicator across clients and cross-functional teams
Ability to collaborate across global teams
Process-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement
