Are you an ambitious Assistant Project Manager looking to join an established General Contractor in Chicago, IL, with the opportunity to work on exciting industrial and mission-critical construction projects?
We are currently working with a well-established General Contractor with a strong pipeline of work and an excellent backlog of projects, offering an Assistant Project Manager the opportunity to develop their career while contributing to the delivery of major construction projects across the Chicago market and wider Midwest region.
This is an excellent opportunity for an APM looking to take the next step in their career, gain exposure to complex projects, and work alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents and senior leadership within a growing construction business.
The OpportunityYou will support the successful delivery of major construction projects, working closely with the project management and field teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest standards.

This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience across the full project lifecycle, develop your commercial and technical construction knowledge, and progress towards a Project Manager position over time.
The RoleAs an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the Project Manager with the day-to-day coordination and administration of construction projects.Key responsibilities will include:Assisting with the management of projects from preconstruction through to completionSupporting project budgets, schedules and cost controlCoordinating subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and design teamsManaging RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentationReviewing construction drawings, specifications and project plansAttending project meetings and maintaining clear communication between stakeholdersMonitoring project progress and helping ensure key milestones are achievedAssisting with procurement, subcontractor coordination and material trackingIdentifying potential project issues and supporting their resolutionWorking closely with Superintendents to coordinate site activities and project requirementsMaintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and client satisfactionSupporting the successful delivery of projects within agreed budgets and schedules
What We're Looking ForWe are keen to speak with motivated Assistant Project Managers who have:3+ years of construction industry experiencePrevious experience working for a General ContractorExperience supporting the delivery of commercial, industrial or mission-critical construction projectsA good understanding of construction processes, drawings, schedules and project documentationExposure to project budgets, subcontractor management and cost controlStrong organisational, communication and problem-solving skillsThe ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Superintendents and subcontractorsA proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of responsibilitiesA desire to develop into a Project Manager roleThe ability to work on projects in and around Chicago, IL
A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous.
