Job Requirements Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) or Neonatal Physician Assistant (PA-C) T he University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our multidisciplinary team in our Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) . About UMMC and Galisano Children's Hospital The UMMC Galisano Children's Hospital is a comprehensive children's hospital providing care to pediatric patients across the full spectrum of acute care. Our hospital includes: Pediatric Emergency Department Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Progressive Care Unit Complex Labor and Delivery Unit Comprehensive ambulatory care services State-of-the-art 52-bed Level IV NICU UMMC clinicians provide exceptional, highly specialized care to critically ill pediatric patients from across Maryland and beyond. The Neonatal APP will provide complex, high-acuity care to some of the most critically ill newborns in the state. Our 37,000-square-foot NICU is supported by a specialized neonatal transport team, state-of-the-art technology in our delivery rooms, and a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving outcomes for critically ill neonates. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team of like-minded providers who are passionate about caring for Maryland's most vulnerable patients. Role & Responsibilities The Neonatal APP team provides 24/7 coverage for patients in the NICU. Responsibilities include: Providing comprehensive daily management of critically ill neonates Supporting the medical team through clinical leadership and resource management Serving as an educational resource for nursing staff, medical staff, and patient families Developing and implementing patient care plans in collaboration with attending neonatologists Utilizing evidence-based interventions and current best practices Providing clinical support and education to members of the multidisciplinary team Working collaboratively with Neonatal Fellows and attending physicians within the Division of Neonatology Participating in neonatal transport coverage through the Maryland Regional Neonatal Transport Program (MRNTP) In addition to clinical responsibilities, all APPs participate in professional practice activities at varying levels. Schedule accommodations will be discussed and negotiated as needed. The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program with successful completion of national certification, or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with appropriate national certification NCC (National Certification Corporation) certification is required for NNP candidates NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification is required for PA candidates Current Maryland licensure or eligibility for licensure Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Why Join UMMC?
