Software Engineer – Data Pipelines / ML Infrastructure

Location: Redmond, WA

Schedule: On-site 5 days/week

Position Overview

Looking for a Software Engineer to build and support the data pipelines that move large amounts of device-generated data into internal systems for machine learning and annotation workflows .

This person will work with infrastructure engineers and Data Strategy TPMs to automate how data is ingested, processed, validated, and prepared for annotation/ML use .

The biggest thing the manager needs is someone who is strong in Python + SQL and has actually built or automated multi-stage data pipelines . They should be comfortable jumping into unfamiliar systems and working across different technologies.

What They'll Be Doing

• Build and automate multi-stage data pipelines using Python and SQL.
• Support data ingestion from multiple devices and sources into centralized infrastructure.
• Develop automation around ML data and data annotation pipelines .
• Build processes to validate data and ensure it moves correctly through the pipeline .
• Troubleshoot pipeline and ingestion issues across different systems.
• Work closely with infrastructure engineers and Data Strategy TPMs.
• Learn and work within Meta's internal tools, languages, configuration systems, and codebases.
• Make architectural tradeoffs to quickly deliver working software solutions in an AR/VR R&D environment.

Must-Haves

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong Python
• Strong SQL
• Hands-on experience building or automating multi-stage data pipelines
• Experience working with data ingestion / data processing workflows
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Comfortable learning unfamiliar systems, languages, and internal tools
• Able to work on-site in Redmond 5 days/week

Strongly Preferred

• Experience with machine learning data pipelines
• Experience with data annotation pipelines or annotation systems
• Data validation experience
• Experience handling data coming from multiple devices or sources
• Automation-focused engineering background
