Transportation & Insurance Defense Associate

Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP is seeking a talented and motivated Litigation Associate with 5-10 years of experience in transportation litigation and insurance defense to join our established litigation practice.

The ideal candidate will have experience with a broad range of transportation-related claims, commercial trucking and motor vehicle accidents and general liability claims. This position offers the opportunity to independently manage a diverse caseload and work closely with clients throughout all phases of litigation.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage insurance defense and transportation litigation matters from inception through resolution.Represent insurance carriers, third-party administrators, self-insured funds, and their insured in liability defense matters.Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents.Conduct and defend depositions, attend court appearances, and participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations.Evaluate liability and damages, develop litigation strategies, and provide recommendations regarding case resolution.Maintain regular communication with clients, claims professionals, and insurance representatives regarding case developments, exposure assessments, and litigation strategies.Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial proceedings, as appropriate.
QualificationsJ.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New Jersey Bar5-10 years of litigation experience, preferably in transportation litigation, insurance defense, and general liability mattersExperience representing insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and/or self-insured entities and motion practiceStrong legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skillsExcellent communication, organizational, and client relationship management skillsNew York Bar admission and trial experience are a plus
The annualized salary range for this position is $150,000-$175,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
