Key Responsibilities
- Manage and follow up on California Workers’ Compensation claims and outstanding A/R
- Review claim status, EOBs/denials, payments, balances, and outstanding documentation
- Communicate with insurance carriers, adjusters, attorneys, and other parties regarding claims and payments
- Follow up on unpaid, denied, delayed, or disputed claims
- Handle Workers’ Compensation lien/reimbursement and collection-related matters
- Maintain accurate case notes, follow-up records, and claim status updates
- Identify reasons for claim denials or payment delays and determine appropriate next steps
- Communicate directly with healthcare providers and explain case/claim status clearly
- Conduct regular client updates and maintain strong relationships with doctors and clinics
- Participate in client meetings and calls when required
- Coordinate with our internal billing and operations team
- Prepare regular reports on collections, pending cases, resolved cases, and outstanding A/R
- Escalate complex legal, billing, or compliance issues when necessary
- Stay updated on California Workers’ Compensation rules, payer requirements, and industry practices
Client-Facing Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be expected to:
- Speak directly with doctors and clinic owners
- Explain Workers’ Compensation processes in a clear and professional manner
- Handle client questions and concerns
- Provide regular updates regarding their cases and collections
- Build trust and maintain long-term client relationships
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in California Workers’ Compensation
- Strong knowledge of California Workers’ Compensation billing, claims, A/R, denials, liens, and collections
- Experience dealing with insurance carriers, adjusters, attorneys, and healthcare providers
- Strong understanding of medical billing and Workers’ Compensation terminology
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Strong communication and client-handling skills
- Comfortable conducting calls and meetings with U.S.-based clients
- Strong follow-up, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned cases
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following will be a plus:
- Lien filing and follow-up
- A/R collections
- Denial management
- Medical provider credentialing
- California WCAB-related processes
- QME/AME-related billing
- Chiropractor, orthopedic, pain management, psychology, or other healthcare provider billing
