Position Summary The Truck Equipment Sales Representative is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships while providing expert consultation on commercial truck equipment and upfitting solutions. This role combines both outside and inside sales responsibilities, including quoting truck upfits, identifying customer needs, generating new business, coordinating with manufacturers and installation teams, and ensuring exceptional customer service throughout the sales process. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with commercial fleet customers, municipalities, contractors, utility companies, and other truck equipment buyers.
- Present, promote, and sell truck equipment products and services to existing and prospective customers.
- Identify customer needs and recommend truck equipment and upfitting solutions that align with operational goals and budget requirements.
- Prepare accurate and timely quotes for truck upfitting packages, including bodies, liftgates, cranes, snow and ice equipment, service bodies, flatbeds, van interiors, shelving, lighting, accessories, and other vocational equipment.
- Generate new business through prospecting, networking, referrals, customer visits, and cold calling.
- Manage the sales process from initial inquiry through order fulfilment and delivery.
- Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis for current and prospective customers.
- Coordinate with manufacturers, vendors, installation technicians, and internal departments to ensure accurate specifications and timely completion of projects.
- Review vehicle specifications to ensure compatibility with equipment and customer requirements.
- Follow up on quotes and sales opportunities to meet or exceed monthly sales and gross profit goals.
- Maintain accurate sales records, customer communications, quotes, opportunities, and status updates in the company CRM system.
- Territory and market potential, track sales activity, and provide status reports to management.
- Report customer needs, market trends, competitive activity, and opportunities for new products and services.
- Resolve customer concerns and complaints promptly to maximize satisfaction and maintain long-term relationships.
- Collaborate with service, installation, and other internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Stay current on truck equipment products, industry trends, chassis updates, manufacturer programs, best practices, and promotional trends.
- Attend trade shows, customer events, and training programs as needed.
- Continuously improve through feedback, training, and professional development. Qualifications
- Previous experience in truck equipment, commercial vehicle sales, automotive, heavy equipment, fleet management, or a related industry preferred.
- Prior experience managing, utilizing, or supporting vocational trucks and/or knowledge of OEM truck manufacturers is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial truck upfitting, vocational truck applications, or a willingness to learn.
- Mechanical knowledge and aptitude required.
- Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read and interpret vehicle specifications and equipment requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and general administrative tools.
- Positive and proactive approach to challenges, with enthusiasm for growing and developing local markets.

- Valid drivers license required, with the ability to meet company insurability standards.
- Experience quoting truck upfits and commercial vehicle equipment.
- Knowledge of truck bodies, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and vocational equipment.
- Strong closing and negotiation skills.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Ability to travel to customer locations, manufacturers, and job sites.
- Frequent walking, standing, and inspecting commercial vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional travel may be required.
