Systems Analysis & Functional Specification

- Consult directly with business users and process owners to determine functional specifications for application enhancements, configuration changes, and new capability.
- Analyze and decompose complex, cross-functional business processes into structured functional requirements, user stories, and testable acceptance criteria.
- Determine whether a stated business request is best resolved through configuration, development, process change, or no change at all, and make the supporting recommendation to the Product Manager.
- Produce and maintain process maps, data-flow documentation, and requirement traceability for the applications in scope, so that design decisions and their rationale are auditable.
Backlog Ownership & Agile Delivery
- Own the analytical quality of the product backlog decomposing epics, refining stories, resolving ambiguity, and determining whether an item is sufficiently defined to enter a sprint.
- Lead story refinement and requirement review sessions with developers, QA, and business stakeholders to reach documented agreement on scope and definition of done.
- Assess incoming requests, defects, and enhancement demand; determine root cause and business impact; and recommend relative sequencing to the Product Manager.
- Represent business intent in sprint ceremonies, resolving requirement questions in real time so that delivery is not blocked on interpretation.
- Evaluate delivered functionality against the original specification and determine whether acceptance criteria have been satisfied.
Testing & Solution Validation
- Design test scenarios and test cases derived from functional specifications and determine whether test coverage is adequate for the risk of the change being released.
- Plan and lead user acceptance testing identifying and preparing business testers, coordinating execution, and determining whether identified defects are release-blocking.
- Diagnose reported system issues by isolating requirement, configuration, data, and code causes, and route each with a documented analysis rather than a restatement of the symptom.
- Validate that released changes produce the intended business outcome and recommend follow-on work where they do not.
Business Partnership & Process Improvement
- Build trusted advisory relationships with business stakeholders, developers, QA, and other analysts across the enterprise application portfolio.
- Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, manual workarounds, and inefficiencies; quantify their operational or financial impact; and propose system or process remedies.
- Advise business partners on opportunities to adopt standard application functionality in place of custom development and articulate the total-cost implications of each path.
- Translate system changes into audience-appropriate impact summaries, training content, and release communications that support business readiness and adoption.
